"Easy process from quote to work complete. The crew worked on a few small projects -- fixed a damaged wall, repaired flooring, and installed a new toilet."

"We brought Fernando in to re-do our deck. His workmen were professional and quick, and his price was very reasonable. We liked his work so much, we also hired him to redo a bathroom and complete a bunch of projects around the house. Update: our work got interrupted by a pandemic (!), but just last week, Fernando and his men returned to finish all the odds and ends. We are very happy with the result and would definitely hire them again for future projects."

"I hired Vinny to redo a backsplash installation that was botched by a previous contractor. Vinny is a pleasure to work with and a true professional at his craft. I appreciate his attention to detail. The backsplash he installed turned out beautifully. I will absolutely use Vinny for any additional tile work going forward, and I highly recommend him."

"I recently had my shower tile replaced and couldn’t be happier with the results. The craftsmanship was outstanding — every tile was laid with precision and the finished product looks completely clean and polished. You can tell real care went into the work. Beyond the quality of the install itself, the team was an absolute pleasure to work with. They were professional from start to finish and showed up when they said they would. Communication was easy and straightforward — no hassle, no surprises. If you’re looking for a tile installer you can trust to do the job right and treat your home with respect, look no further. Highly recommend!"

"Nixon and his crew did an outstanding job gutting and rebuilding a very challenging bathroom in our house, which was built in the 1930s. We are very happy with the craftsmanship and the price, and it was a pleasure to work with them on this project from start to finish. I highly recommend this excellent contractor."

"Joel and Luis were very responsive and professional and did an outstanding job!! They patched multiple holes and cracks and then were able to match paint color in multiple rooms - one cannot see the old vs new paint because they did this so well. This enabled us to save costs as they did not have to paint entire walls and ceilings. We had about a dozen misc small jobs and they tackled them all (including a severe clogged vanity sink). They also patched/ painted exterior stucco walls and repaired a broken chair. Highly recommended and very trustworthy."

"We hired Lasting Strength to tear down and build a new deck. Adam and his team of Marco and Danny were great to work with. They showed up on time, listened to our requests, and came in on budget. We also had them do various other odd jobs including re-grouting the shower tiles. All their work was expertly and beautifully done. And Adam was exceptional in finding solutions to challenging projects. We highly recommend them."

"Mat did a great job laying tile in my basement, which was not flat to begin with. Very precise in ensuring that the floor at the end was flat. Pricing was very fair."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

For glass tile, you want to use unsanded grout. Sanded grout is a stronger and grittier cement grout that is great for installing tiles with wider gaps and into joints. However, it is susceptible to scratching glass tile and is more difficult to use in thinner gaps. Unsanded grout, while more expensive, is easier to fit between thin gaps and is less harsh on delicate materials, like glass tile.

Tile—specifically smaller, mosaic-style tiles—is the best type of flooring for building a walk-in shower base. Shower pans come with a threshold and sidewalls to contain the water, but tile can be set into the shower base. This creates a walk-in shower floor that gently slopes toward the drain to keep water from getting out and into the rest of the bathroom.

There are several low-maintenance shower floor tiles to consider for your bathroom. Stone tiles are easy to keep clean and only need an occasional resealing to keep them looking their best. Porcelain is another low-maintenance choice, as it doesn’t stain easily. Vinyl is also suitable for easy upkeep. On the other hand, one of the highest maintenance options for bathrooms is wood tile.

Generally speaking, it is better to cut tile wet when using a fast-moving wet saw to reduce dust and chipping. However, tile can be cut dry when using just about any cutting tool. Dry cutting will result in a bigger mess and may increase the risk of chipping or cracking, but if you’re just making small cuts, dry cutting is a safe and viable option. Cutting dry also means you can apply tile grout sooner, so it’s better for rushed projects.

The grout shade you choose comes down to personal taste and preference. A darker grout will give you a more dramatic and noticeable contrast with the tile around it; however, lighter grout helps create a more uniform look when blending the colors together. Additionally, a darker grout combined with a patterned tile could be overwhelming to the eye, while lighter grout makes the pattern stand out as the main focus.
