"P&H Asphalt repaired my asphalt driveway that had a lot of damage from ice over the previous winter. They used the infrared process to reform a large section of damaged driveway. The repair came out very nice. I would use their service again."

"Absolutely no problems, his price was lower then the others and he did the job non stop for 5 days. When there was a hint of rain at the end of the day they covered the roof with tarp to take no chances...Very Professional. I have a 1940's house with 3 layers including the original wooden shingles with a 30 foot drop down a hill in the back, shingles had to be hawled up the hill and up a second hill to the driveway and was leaking around the chimney. I had 4 other bids, one decided it was too much another was a 2 man crew, another used day labors and when I asked if they work with the town inspector and have insurance they all ran. I found Ben on Angie's List and he saw no problems, had his insurance company send me a letter and said he perfered to get a permit. I feel he and his crew went the extra mile and did more then I expectd, extra ice shield all around, extra vents and a nice copper flashing around the roof. I an glad I went with them...Very Happy

"I obtained several tree removal estimates from various companies since the past winter and found customer service with this company is top priority. Completely satisfied with the services performed. They showed me the hollow condition of my tree and said it was caught just in time. Company is responsive, respectful, professional, committed and have plenty of help to complete the task. I will definitely hire again."

Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

In most cases, it is best to leave icicles on your roof and allow them to melt naturally. You should only remove them if they are heavy enough to cause damage to your home or pose a safety risk to people below. Attempting to remove icicles yourself can be dangerous, so if you are concerned about immediate damage, it is recommended to hire a professional. To prevent icicles from recurring, you should address the underlying cause, which is often poor insulation. Long-term solutions include improving your home's insulation or installing roof heating coils.

Whether or not an annual snow removal contract is worth it depends mainly on location. If you live in an area with frequent heavy snowfall, a yearly contract could be better than paying per clearing. If you live in an area where it only snows a few times a year, paying per snowstorm may be a better option.

When it comes to deciding whether a two-stage or three-stage snow blower is better, you must consider the amount of snowfall you get, the size of the area, and your budget.

A three-stage snow blower is more efficient at clearing higher volumes of snow quicker and removing ice build-up. It’s ideal for commercial use and removing snow from large areas. Make sure to compare various types of snow removal equipment to ensure you purchase the one that is best for your needs.

While removing every snowflake from your roof is unnecessary, you should remove a significant buildup of snow. Since snow is wet and heavy, it can easily cause damage to your roof, which can lead to needing costly repairs.

Additionally, when the snow melts but has nowhere to go and refreezes, it can create an ice dam, causing mold concerns due to water leaking into your attic and ceiling. For these reasons, it’s best to hire a snow removal professional to clear heavy snowfall from your roof as soon as possible.

If you’re looking at how to remove snow from solar panels, heat from the sun usually melts the snow within a few days. However, snow removal might be necessary for winter solar power production in areas with deep snow during the winter. There are brushes with telescoping handles and gentle heads to brush away snow. It’s best to stay on the ground if possible and avoid using tools that could scratch the surface of the solar panels, like a snow shovel or broom.
