"Bud replaced my three season porch with a garage addition and front door portico. I couldn’t be happier with the work performed. He checks all the boxes if you’re looking for someone that’s professional, responsive, respectful, friendly, and truthful. Bud sets very high standards, is thorough in detail, and not satisfied until you’re satisfied!"

Customers say: Quick response

"We hired Adam to install exterior doors. From his first consultation we knew he was the guy for the job. He spoke knowledgeably about the task and explained everything that needed to be done. During the install he came across a few other issues and brought them to my attention with a resolution. He did such a great job installing the doors that we used him for a few other jobs around the house. Adam and Dan were extremely professional, knowledgeable and great to work with. We will be hiring them again in the future!"

"Fine Construction did a terrific job of gut renovating a 1,900sf pre-war unit for my client who purchased the property. Client, and engineer, interviewed 3 contractors we recommended and chose Fine Construction. Project required a major re-design to add a 3rd a bedroom, flooring structure reinforcement, complete systems upgrades, kitchen, baths, millwork, detail finishing -- you name it they did it. Very pleased with the cost estimates, design advice and workmanship details. Processional service all along the way during months of work. Highly recommend Ciaran Strong and his team for any job, large or small. Contact me [email protected], Assoc. Broker, COMPASS"

"Carlos and Luis, along with a few day workers, did a great job installing my new roof. They replaced and added copper as needed. They were professional and easy to deal with. I feel that their price was VERY competitive. Looking forward to utilizing their skills on other projects! E.Bednarz"

Subcontractors questions, answered by experts

When planning a general remodeling project, it's important to define the scope of work, understand your goals, and set a clear, detailed budget. You should also assess the current structure and consult with professionals like architects or contractors. Create a realistic timeline for each phase, obtain any necessary permits, and build in contingency plans for potential delays or unforeseen issues. Regular communication with all involved parties is crucial to streamline the process.

Italianate architecture is a reinterpretation of Renaissance styles, combining elements of Italian farmhouses and villas with Victorian materials and construction. This home style emerged in the Victorian era, gaining popularity in the U.S. in the mid-to late-1800s. The style came about in response to what many then viewed as the too-rigid and stuffy Classical style designs.

Yes, professionals offer design services that ensure cohesive appearances.

You don’t have to commit to a complete home renovation to age in place comfortably—those can get pricey. Instead, focus on a few impactful changes. Consider adding a stair lift or installing ramps to eliminate barriers. Upgrading to non-slip flooring can prevent falls while adding brighter lighting can improve visibility throughout your home. These thoughtful updates can make your home much easier to navigate and enhance your comfort and safety without the stress and cost of a complete overhaul.

Federal architecture is most common in urban areas throughout the New England states, including the older parts of New York, Pennsylvania (namely, Boston and Philadelphia), Maryland, Massachusetts, and Virginia. The style also dominated in parts of Georgia in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, so many historical homes in the area embody this home design. Salem, MA, has two historic districts that predominantly feature this architectural style: Chestnut Street District and the Salem Maritime National Historic Site.
