"Andrew was great on time and personable. He knew what he was doing and even showed me the issues. He fixed what he was able to and advised me on what I need to do next since the next issue was not the plumbing. When I was urgently looking for someone to come fix the leak I had, everyone else was unable to make it the day of. Andrew made it in an hour from speaking with him. I would recommend his services to anyone needing a plumber."

"I had plumbing leaks in a couple of places, but the men that did the work went above and beyond by replacing every component involved top to bottom to ensure there would be no leaks for a long time to come. Very satisfied with the quality of work as well as how quickly it was done."

"They are good and prompt, but expensive. Project, replace toilet wax ring. Replace lavatory sink tail piece and lavatory sink stopper assembly I needed this done fairly quickly as the toilet was starting to drip water into a ceiling area below. The telephone staff who set up our appointment were great. Response time was short. Once the technician arrived, he was up front with pricing, so I knew what their price would be. I did postpone other less urgent work because of the price. The cost for these two items was almost $1000. Past experience with other plumbers would have been in the $700 range. However, TMS was available, and they were not If the price had been more in line, I will probably use them as my regular."

"Bruce and Bill of Williams and Associates Mechanical Contracting recently removed and replaced my 18 year old oil fired boiler and added an indirect fired water heater. I had been saving for this project for over a year and had been geeking out in my avid research (Thanks Internet!) of products available, reviews and costs, as well as the reputation and reliability of local heating and plumbing contractors. I knew what I wanted, I just needed to stay within my budget and find a contractor I could trust. It is therefore, my pleasure to let others know, on the same web review sites that I referred to, how overwhelming pleased I am to have worked with Bruce Williams and his team. They skillfully removed and installed the heating system in a day, took pride in their work and took the time to explain the new system and to fully answer all my questions. Bruce and Bill clearly like what they do for a living, have great people skills and work very well together. I was able to get the very best of products and still come well under budget. I cannot thank these guys enough! Honest, Professional and Reliable! My dusty, unfinished basement with my new Viessmann boiler, Carlin burner and HTP indirect fired water heater is now my favorite part of the house!"

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Unexpected expenses during plumbing repairs stem from hidden septic system complications or failing well pumps. Opening walls in older Prospect homes exposes corroded pipes or previous improper repairs that require immediate attention. Testing water during a project reveals the need for new filtration systems. Additionally, Connecticut building codes mandate that any exposed, non-compliant infrastructure gets brought up to current standards, expanding the overall scope of work.

Helpful?

Start your initial plumbing updates by testing your well water for radon, arsenic, and bacteria, which dictates your filtration needs. Next, schedule a septic system inspection and pump-out to ensure it handles your household volume. Verify that your main water shutoff valve functions correctly to prevent emergencies. Finally, assess your water heater for hard water sediment buildup and inspect older Prospect homes for outdated galvanized pipes.

Helpful?

Completing plumbing work in a single visit depends heavily on local permit requirements. Connecticut building codes mandate rough-in and final inspections for most updates, adding extra days to the timeline. Connecting to private wells and septic systems also requires separate evaluations and water testing. Winter weather extends timelines, as frozen ground complicates exterior pipe access. Older homes feature corroded pipes that require extra time to repair properly.

Helpful?

When planning plumbing upgrades in Prospect, prioritize your well water quality. Address naturally occurring contaminants like radon, arsenic, and hard water by incorporating proper filtration systems into your design. You must also account for strict setback rules between new fixtures and existing septic components. Remember that rural access extends contractor response times, and local permit offices operate with limited hours, requiring careful scheduling for inspections.

Helpful?

Completing plumbing upgrades directly improves your daily health by filtering out harmful well water contaminants. Updating your pressure tanks and supply lines eliminates frustrating low-water pressure issues. Properly insulating pipes and installing frost-proof exterior connections prevents freezing during harsh CT winters, protecting your property from damage. Maintaining your septic connections gives you complete confidence in your waste system and significantly reduces the risk of rural plumbing emergencies.
