A dumpster rental is best for projects like remodeling, including removing broken tile, drywall, fixtures, or other debris. That way, you can easily throw everything in one safe space to remove for later. 

If you're clearing out boxes or other items like furniture from your home, it's best to hire a professional junk hauling company. They can do the heavy lifting to clear out the unwanted items from your home, which are often heavy or bulky.

Although there’s a long list of items you can put in a rented dumpster, several items aren’t allowed. Most dumpster rental companies won’t allow paint cans, refrigerators, medical waste, household cleaners, hot water tanks, oil or fuel, and tires in their dumpsters. However, most let you dump furniture, wood, yard debris, small appliances, excess trash, and construction waste.

The smallest dumpsters typically available can hold 2 cubic yards and measure 6 feet by 8 feet at 3 feet deep. These are ideal for small cleanup jobs, can hold around 400 pounds, and cost between $75 and $200 per week to rent. For even smaller jobs, there is also the option of renting a dumpster bag. A dumpster bag can come in a variety of sizes and often costs between $100 and $180 per week.

The amount a 6-by-10-foot dump trailer can hold varies depending on the model. Generally, however, they can hold at least 4 cubic yards of waste with a load capacity of at least 4,000 lbs. This is around 1/4 to 1/2 the amount a standard junk removal truck can hold. It’s also considerably less than the most common dumpster size of 20 cubic yards.

The size of the dumpster will determine how many squares of shingles can fit in a dumpster. You can place between 4 to 20 squares of shingles in most standard containers.
