"When I was locked out of my home I search on google for a local locksmith. Contacted Mr. Dominick from Safeguard locks, he is a very professional locksmith, punctual and charged me fairly. Before I decided to hire him I also contacted two other locksmith companies in Norwalk Ct but I decided to hire Mr. Dominick because his knowledge gave me confidence that he could do the job right. I was right, he was very respectful of my home, explain in details the job and the cost.. no surprises. If you live in Norwalk Connecticut or Fairfield County and you need a licensed locksmith for your home, car or truck look no further than Safeguard locks and ask for Mr. Dominick, he is truly the best locksmith I have ever worked with."

"I had a variety of small handyman projects - replacing doorknobs, patching holes, fixing molding, etc. the guys were very polite, professional, and knowledgeable. They took off their shoes to enter the hose, and did a great job, and kept me informed the whole time. I would definitely recommend them and hire them again!"

"Ronald and his team were very professional, on time and did the job well. They installed a dishwasher and range hood for me with no issues and are currently working on other fixes in my kitchen. I will definitely continue to work with them for future projects."

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

First thing first: Make sure you’re using the right key. If it’s the correct key for your lock, there are a few reasons why it may not be working, like the key is worn out or the lock is jammed. Try lubricating the lock and pushing the door closed to ensure the mechanisms work correctly. If you’re still locked out, call in for help.

Expect to pay between $50 to $200 if you hire a locksmith to change your locks. That figure includes labor and the cost of basic hardware. The cost will naturally be higher if you plan to install more expensive locks, like smart locks, and if you need a lot of them.

Homeowners can save money by replacing locks themselves. A typical rekeying kit costs about $10 to $25. The only additional cost is purchasing new house keys, and those are no more than a few dollars per key. If you want to replace the locks on your own completely, the main cost is the price of the locks themselves. A standard knob-style lock starts around $25, while electronic locks and smart locks will run in the hundreds of dollars. The only additional tools you should need are a tape measure, screwdriver, and screws if they are not already provided.

Costs depend on lock type, service complexity, labor, emergency availability, and whether security system integration is needed.

Yes, locksmiths can design and install master key systems that grant different levels of access to various employees while maintaining overall security.

It could be difficult to get in and out of a lock for several reasons, such as the keyhole needing additional lubrication. Particles, debris, and dirt can also get into a lock, making a key stuck (the lubrication can help with the removal).
