"Avraham was the consummate professional and expeditiously returned my call on a major holiday (Labor Day) when I reached out to him and explained my emergency. I reside in NJ and my elderly mother who resides in NY - had a medical crises which resulted in the Fire Department breaking her door locks in order to enter allowing EMS to come to her aid when she could not open the door for her Home Health Aide as a result of falling. Logistically I had to get to NY to stay with my mother as Avraham gave me the choice to come that evening or the following morning as he provided recommendations for each choice . I spoke with the FIrefighter who informed me that while he had to break two of my mother's lock, he was able to leave one lock undisturbed - however the stability of the door was greatly compromised with a huge amount of slack and the existing lock was off track -but able to barely lock. I arranged to have pictures sent to the locksmith and explained the door status as Avraham automatically inquired about it. It was during our discussion that I learned of Avraham's vast knowledge concerning locks and doors and I was impressed with his insights from experience as well as how he took pride in his craft after vetting two other locksmiths. Once my mother was stabilized, I decided and arranged for Avraham to arrive very early Tuesday morning and to give me a heads up call 1/2 hour prior to arriving. Avraham called as agreed, arrived on-time, installed a highly secure well known multi lock cylinder along with deadbolt, managed to miraculously align the door seamlessly with the new installation, and provided wise advice to discourage the use of an old chain lock - as Avraham explained to my mother and I - her chain lock which was broken could be a death trap and highly recommending removing it. He candidly made it abundantly clear that he unfortunately encountered many worse case scenarios with chain locks and senior citizens who had them installed to their detriment. Avraham also provided professional recommendations on another locking system that was still in tack but very tricky to operate. He took his time and with great patience spoke with my elderly mother and I. My mother and I highly recommend Avraham and would not hesitate to use his professional services again should the need for a locksmith ever arise again. I thank God that for taking care of my mother and we both thank God for Avraham as he provided my family with peace of mind, safety, and took his time to ensure that his work was done with perfection. "My front door lock became inoperative.  I called American Locksmith and they responded in a timely manor.  My problem was diagnosed and I was given options.  A new, exact replacement lock would have been $500 installed.  They suggested getting replacement parts, as the  majority of the lock was in good condition.  The replacement parts were ordered ans in a couple of days were installed.  The lock now works perfectly.
Without question, my best interest was put first and all work was done reliably and efficiently.  I would recommend American Locksmith to anyone.

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

Most door knobs can be removed with a Phillips or flathead screwdriver. If you don’t have either of those available, a paper clip or small pin can sometimes work, but the extra effort may not be worth a quick trip to the hardware store.

There are many types of deadbolts, but these tips work on most. First, address any grime buildup. A bit of WD-40 will loose up rust and dirt so the deadbolt can turn. Inspect the door and frame alignment if this doesn't resolve the issue. Adjust the strike plate or the deadbolt's position to improve alignment. If the problem persists, disassemble the lock to inspect for damaged or worn parts. If you are unsure how to do it, hire a local locksmith.

Keyless locks are often considered safer since they’re protected by passcodes instead of a physical key, making it harder to be picked. However, they are not infallible. And like all electronic devices, outdated models are more prone to problems and safety concerns. If you’ve experienced multiple lockouts in the past year, or your lock is responding slower than usual after you key in the passcode, it might be time to upgrade to a newer one. Even if your lock is working fine, you should still change your access code at least twice a year.

It depends on what type of keyless entry it is and if the locksmith has the proper tools to remove a keypad entry lock since some are more advanced than others. However, locksmiths can typically work around keyless entries to vehicles, so it depends on what type of keyless entry system needs opening.

Any type of dead bolt lock provides the highest level of safety for a single device. However, it’s also important to determine a lock's grade. Locks can come in either Grade 1, Grade 2, or Grade 3, which indicates how durable it is and if it’s constructed solidly. Safety experts recommend choosing locks based on Grade 1, which offers the highest level of durability.
