Customers say: True professional

"It took Brian only 1 hour, after we spoke on the phone, to show up at my door with a new Water heater tank, and three hours later the job was done. He replaced the old water heater with a new one and tested to make sure everything runs properly before leaving. He was professional, honest and did a great job with a fair price. I highly recommend him for your plumbing services."

"I called TC plumbing after a disastrous ice storm and cold snap (95% of my town was without power at least two days w/ wind-chills of -20 degrees, and many nearby towns were also hard-hit). Tony responded promptly by telephone, and that night he and his crew found and repaired 6 burst heating pipes in baseboards and between floors. The men were all friendly, professional, and efficient, and they did their best to minimize water damage when testing the heating system. They kept drywall cutting as small as possible, and they cleaned up their work-sites. I found the price fair, particularly given that three plumbers worked for three hours of overtime, and they started working as soon as they came in the door. The fact that they came the same day because it was an emergency was PRICELESS. I'd contacted half a dozen plumbing services who told me I'd have to wait anywhere from two days to a week or longer without heat or water ... in January."

"It went very well and smoothly.  When we realized we had a water issue, I went to Angie's List.  I saw the reviews of two companies and this owner came quickly to checkout the issue and give me an estimate. He confirmed the problem and I got an estimate from 2 other companies.  One was the same price and one was much more.  We scheduled a date for the following week.  On the appointed day, he had an unexpected well emergency so he sent 2 workers later in the day to do the job because we had taken the day off to be home.  (I always recommend being home when work is being done on your home).  They were very professional, replaced the tank and now our water pressure is better.  Very pleased and we would call on them again for any water/well issues (but hopefully we won't have any).

"This was the second time we used H L Bowman for our plumbing needs and we have been impressed both times. Their plumbers are prompt, courteous, and friendly, in addition to being great at their craft. For this visit, I had a leak under a kitchen sink and did not realize that I needed to have the entire faucet replaced. The plumber recommended the closest plumbing supply store and waited while I selected the one I wanted. He efficiently did the replacement. Very happy with H L Bowman and would highly recommend them."

Percolation Tests questions, answered by experts

It can be safe to live in a house with asbestos as long as the asbestos-containing materials are intact, in good condition, and not disturbed. Asbestos becomes dangerous only when its fibers are released into the air, which happens if the material is damaged, crumbling, or disturbed during renovation work. If you suspect asbestos is present, do not disturb it. Instead of removal, materials in good condition can sometimes be encapsulated. It is recommended to have regular professional inspections to monitor the condition of the asbestos and prevent health risks from potential exposure.

Damaged tiles can release asbestos fibers into the air. Anyone in the surrounding area who may inhale the fibers will have them settled in the lining of internal organs. Over time, it may lead to serious health conditions such as lung cancer and mesothelioma.

The only safe way to prevent these conditions is to avoid exposure to asbestos at all costs, even for a short period of time.

Asbestos itself does not typically leak from a roof. However, if an asbestos-containing roof is damaged or deteriorated, it can release asbestos fibers into the air. This can occur when the roof is disturbed, such as during maintenance or repairs, or due to weathering over time. Exposure to airborne asbestos fibers can be harmful to health, so it is important to address any damaged asbestos roofs promptly and safely.

Asbestos is a carcinogen, meaning it increases the risk of cancer. Inhaling asbestos fibers is linked to several respiratory issues, including asbestosis, or scarring on the lungs, lung cancer, and mesothelioma, another type of cancer. There's also a link between asbestos exposure and an increased risk of colon cancer and other cancers of the digestive system.

Usually, the people most at risk for disease related to asbestos exposure are those who spend a lot of time working around the material without protection. Electricians who work with asbestos wire have a higher risk of developing mesothelioma or lung cancer due to their exposure.

Most manufacturers stopped putting asbestos in linoleum before 1980 due to public concerns about its toxicity. However, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) didn’t ban asbestos-containing products until 1989, and a comprehensive ban was not announced until 2024. This means that homes built after 1989 may still have asbestos in their flooring.
