This review is from a seller where an inspection was performed. The heat was not shut off after the inspection and my family and I walked into 90 degree temperatures because the heat was never turned off when the inspection was complete and it was on for 7 hours until we got home. In addition the mud room has a thermostat and electric heater and that was also left on high which we did not realize until the next day. In addition, to prove a point to a potential buyer he forced a hole through the wood in our detached garage reporting that there are signs of water damage. The garage is from 1930, there has been water in the garage especially when we had the hurricane last year but they could have just written that in the report not damage our property to prove a point. Coincidentally, the same inspector came back with another interested buyer and yet another piece of wood was pulled off from the garage. If that is not bad enough, the same inspector gave confidential information from a previous inspection to a new potential buyer which led to another buyer terminating the deal. I know this as our lawyer communicated with the potential buyers attorney and said that the inspector passed on information about a previous inspection he did at our house a week earlier.. in addition, our neighbor and friends were outside during the outside portion of the inspection and they heard the inspector give the potential buyers and their real estate broker information about the last inspection and what the other potential buyers said. So much for confidentiality.

It went flawless. They were super fast and made sure I was taken care of. They had my back in the home inspection and made sure everything was in good condition. I highly recommend them

The inspector was very friendly. We actually talked a lot while the inspection was going on. During the inspection, some stains were noticed on the bedroom ceiling. When the inspector went up into the attic no water issues were seen so we figured the leak was from a prior issue. Fast forward about a month later and those stains are now a water leak. The leak is coming from the vent pipe on the roof. When the inspector went into the attic he looked in the wrong place. The water stains were within a foot of the vent pipe. He was looking on the opposite side of the attic. Had he looked in the correct place he would've noticed the stains were near the vent pipe. I then would have asked the seller to repair or replace the vent pipe collar prior to purchasing the house. Now, I have to pay for the repair myself and fix the wet ceiling. This was a big miss by the inspector.

While the inspection initially seemed complete. the inspector relied on a previous inspection of the home he had done when it sold five or so year searlier. As a result, "new" issues were overlooked. One of the key items missed was an extensive, long standing flying squirrel infestation in the attic. Several obvious signs of activity - disturbed insulation in attic, strong urine and waste smell and evidence of access on the roof around the master bath (which a subsequent inspector confirmed was visible from the ground with binoculars). Bottom line is that we may not have bought this house and /or at the very least recovered the $ 8000 it will cost us to fully remedy this situation.

The inspector was meticulous as he investigated all areas of the home. Roofing, plumbing, heating, and electrical problems were revealed. Issues involving improper grading around the perimeter of the home were pointed out. As dire as all of the problems sounded, he assured us the structure had great bones, was sound and with some TLC would be a great home. While the cost of the inspection was not insignificant, the value received was more than worth it.

Excellent service: prompt, courteous, responsive to questions, willing to inspect the attic. The report included detailed recommendedations for maintenance and repair which I will refer to in coming months. I am pleased to report that more than a month after closing, I have not found any unexpected problems with the house.

We needed my mother's home inspected for safety and comfort issues, as she has been living there alone for almost 20 years and is now in her mid-80's.  We knew there were some issues with the house, but wanted more information.  We called Tiger Home & Building Inspection after seeing their high ratings on Angie's List.
From first contact to last, this company has been GREAT.  We were able to quickly set up a date and time that was convenient for us.  The inspector they sent, Patrick Nagle, was prompt, professional, knowledgable and personable.  He went through his inspection and kept us informed every step of the way. He answered all our questions, taking care to explain things so we could understand fully.  Patrick gave us a verbal summary of the most important things that needed to be addressed.  His final report came via email that same day.  I can't thank Tiger Home & Building Inspection enough for making this process as easy and pleasant as possible!

Our inspector, Bret Benson, did a great job on our home inspection.  He was very thorough throughout, even our Realtor was impressed and will be recommending him also.  They were able to schedule us quickly for a Sunday morning, and the report includes termite inspection also.  My Husband is on the quiet side so he's not one to ask a lot of questions, but Bret was great about offering information about options in the future, maintenance, etc.  I also appreciate that he did a great job inspection the attic spaces, and though for safety reasons he could not go on the roof, he did have a ladder and got up there; which many companies only do ground visual inspections.  Thanks for a job well done Bret!

My wife and I purchased the home on the basis that the home inspection seemingly had no red flags. I purposely waited to fill out this review so I could get to know my new home and truly confirm the home inspection results. Unfortunately for my family?s sake, the home inspector that came to our home was not as thorough as his 3 hour stay lead us to believe. Like any home, it had a few small simple items that needed to be addressed, which we took care of. However, one major item that should have been clearly evident to a professional was that the deck on the back of the home was improperly attached (verified by another inspection company and a separate contractor). The deck was lagged to the house on top of the siding and there was clearly no flashing installed as flashing would have been visible from the underside of the deck. This one oversight on the home inspection led me to find very extensive water damage on the rear of my home spanning the entire 35 feet of the deck. This required that the 35?x10? deck, which is 12? off the ground, needed to be removed from the home, all damaged material, including the entire rear wall under the deck, was removed and replaced and properly flashed. During this process I contacted Tiger, seeing as how on their website they clearly state that they ?care about our customers? and ?we stand behind our inspection? to see if they really would live up to these to statements. This phone call was not intended to ask for them to fix the problem, but simply for them to come out again to look and acknowledge the miss on their part and maybe at the least refund my inspection cost for not doing a thorough inspection which is what I paid them for. After speaking with a woman from the office on Sept 21, 2015 who agreed that it was terrible that the water damage was not found, she simply looked up my information and passed me off to the gentleman who initially completed the home inspection. He contacted me on Sept 23 2015, we spoke on the phone and after 11 minutes I was left with ?there is no need for me to come out and view it; it states right in our paper work that we don?t check flashing? and there was nothing for them to do.
I purposely waited to write this review now having a clear mind seeing as how my house is finally weather tight and ready for winter. Looking back on the inspection day, one rather large flag I missed was that the inspector showed up without a ladder, how does one complete a truly in-depth inspection without one?

I picked this company based on the reviews on Angie's List and also on the fact that they do Sunday inspections.  The company was very professional from the outset and the woman I spoke to on the phone was very friendly.  They emailed me confirmation of our appointment and items included in the service.  I called a couple days later to add a few water tests.  George arrived on time and did a very thorough job - four hours.  He was kind and informative, and I felt immediate relief after the first 5 minutes of our encounter with him.  I could tell that he knew exactly what he was doing.  The inspection lasted from 10 am to 2:30 pm or so and I received the report by email by noon the next day.  Radon air test report was emailed to me prior to the inspection.  Water test results were emailed to me the day after the inspection.  I appreciated that the company arranged to perform these tests in advance of the inspection as the results take several days to return, and I had a tight window until contract.  I would highly recommend this company.
