"Unfortunately I give BBB a 1 star rating. The project began October of 2021 with demolition, upon completion of each phase I sent an email to Better Built Basement management thanking them for their work effort and identifying items that either required further explanation and/or resolution. As the project went on, I became increasingly frustrated with their lack of communication, lack of accountability, lack of caring, and lack of skill. The straw that broke my back was when Jim (an owner) called me a f’ing c’sucker. Randy, (an owner) sent me the following email: No one has time to read your 3-page condensing e-mails. You have done nothing but complaint. It's obnoxious and draining to everyone you come in contact with. There isn't one person who cant wait to have you out of our lives. I terminated Better Built Basements on June 7th, 2022, here are some of the details of my experience: - The demo crew was excellent in and out in a day and did a great job cleaning up - The electricians were very consultative in their approach to the project, providing input on lighting and outlet placements. - Framing was mediocre. Despite using laser equipment, one wall was wavy and the ceiling grid has a large gap. Pictures attached. - New steel stud framing and pre-hung doors should be dead on straight as an arrow instead, two of the doors has an aesthetically noticeable skew. - The replacement to an existing door resulted in using the wrong hinge set for the existing mortices, inclusive of color – all the other hardware is brass they used chrome. Picture attached. - 3 of the four doors were either chipped or cracked. BBB was notified before the ‘final’ paint job, but they failed to address the issue. - I returned home the day they applied joint compound to find glops of joint compound on the floor, which I tracked around my house, and glops on wood work on a floor where no work was occurring. Pictures attached - Following the flooring installation, they left garbage in my basement for 2.5 weeks, then did not take it when they came back – in frustration I disposed of it myself. - Many of joints on the ¼ round trim molding were caulked excessively to cover up sloppy miters. - Cracked switchhplate was not replaced. Picture attached. - Sub-contractors have sub-contractors, who seem to be able to sub contract – direct employees of BBB other than the demo and electrical were rare. BBB demands using a lock box, Many people have the combination, providing little sense of security over access to the home. Overall, BBB does a bad job communicating, managing expectations and fails to deliver on their stated objectives at best they are contractors not craftsman."

"C&C completely gutted and renovated our hall bath and partially redid the master bath. The work included repair to downstairs ceilings, painting, as well as replacement of numerous doors, and replacing hardware in other rooms. I cannot say enough good things about this company and crew. They did impeccable work, were patient and helpful when materials delivered incorrectly and immediately helped us figure out solutions that turned out better than our original plans. They were respectful in our home, did amazing daily cleanup and the end result exceeded our expectations, which is not easy to do. Their estimate was spot on, no up-charging or hidden costs and the job was finished two days earlier than estimated. C&C will be our first choice for all our future renovation plans!"

When he tells you that he’ll be at your house by 8:00 AM, he’ll be there at 8:00 on the dot. He truly cares about the quality of his work and treats his projects as if they were being done within his own home. "We were very pleased with the job performed. Helio's team expanded and renovated our small master bathroom. We took out a large closet and converted it into our shower. Once started, they worked quickly and efficiently. We did have a few small hiccups, namely using our garage to cut tiles and mix thinset, which created an exorbitant amount of dust coating my tools, bikes, and anything else that was stored in the garage. We also had an issue with the cleanliness of the home after some of the workers left, however, after we brought it to Helio's attention, he made sure to tell the team to do a better job moving forward. Contract was a little confusing, so I would encourage many questions to clarify things ahead of time such as timeline for selecting certain items, confirming when the next payments are due etc. All in all, we're pleased with the project and how it turned out."

"Excellent - Tito was extremely responsive and his team did excellent work. I shopped around and got multiple quotes, and his was the lowest. More importantly, he had done work on a number of my neighbors’ homes and came highly recommended. His team was very responsive and got the work done on a short time frame which was great because I needed much of the work done before I moved in to my new home. My floors and skylights look great and I have full confidence in his work. One thing which I really liked is the fact that he is constantly in communication, is always available, and is local. The last part is important because he understands the importance of reputation which gives me full confidence in his work. I will definitely be coming back to him again for any future work on my house and wholeheartedly recommend!"

"Inson is a creative genius with a superb eye. He did everything with meticulous detail and completely transformed our apartment into an amazing, gorgeous home. We enjoy entertaining, and our friends love coming over, always remarking how beautiful and inviting our home is- and that was exactly what we wanted, except Inson brilliantly upgraded our concept, within budget and on time (even with our aggressive timeline because we needed to be out of our old place and into our new within months!). Inson’s team was also great to work with - always polite and professional. We highly recommend Inson and plan on working with him again on our Hamptons home!"

Even though we realize that our bathroom renovation was a "small" job in comparison to what this company handles, we felt as if our bathroom was all that mattered to owner John Dunrite and his crew. We cannot emphasize enough how accommodating John Dunrite is, paying attention to all details, constantly stopping in to check the work, taking pride in the job, and even meeting us at a tile store to pick out materials. The company's crew followed John's lead with top-notch work. Vijay, manager of the work; George, who tied it all together; and all of the men, went above and beyond to help us through the bathroom renovation process. No request was a problem. Our apartment and building were respected in terms of: cleanliness, noise control, waste removal, adherence to the time that the work was done, and quickness in which the job was completed. The cost charged was beyond reasonable. We look forward to having the Dunrite Design Group return to our home for further renovations and highly recommend this company without reservation. "If I could leave 0 stars, I would. Apart from the first call, all other interactions with Evolution Drafting were a bait & switch. From the appt. date for site tech to measure my home, to the experience and skill set of the tech that was sent, to the lack of communication, the experience was awful. Deadlines were not met, no explanation or apology given; only excuses and partial/incorrect work was sent, seemingly in an attempt to appease me. When I did finally receive the initial two drafts of the "as-is" drawing, they had not even captured the exterior deck and facade (windows, doors, garage, etc.) at all, and this was noted from the beginning as the primary scope of work and primary reason for hiring them. Further, nearly every dimension in the "as-is" drawings that they sent me, was incorrect. Existing doors, walls, windows were missing in two iterations of the as-is drawings; delaying the ability to share the concept and desired renovation scopes until there was a correct baseline. The deposit paid was a complete waste as I waited 3+ weeks for the site tech's visit, then the drawings did not start until 3 days before the next milestone set was due to me. In checking dimensions like the length of my existing kitchen, placement of the main entry door to the home, etc., I found all of them to be incorrect. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They were dishonest, did not pay their site tech vendor on-time, causing him to contact me with threats of leaning the project before we even had drawings to submit to the city and the management and project coordinators made promises that they did not even attempt to keep or follow-up on promised communications."
