"The tank on my toilet was cracked and not wanting to guess about the repair I decided to replace the toilet. From start to finish the job was done in 45 minutes with the old toilet being removed and the new one installed. It looks really nice. I will use this company again. They make sure you understand what you are paying for and what you are getting for that amount right up front."

"We contracted with Don to do the installation. We had a severe leaking faucet assembly, a food disposal unit that periodically presented some unpleasant odors and a sink that needed to be replaced as well. On installation day, he noticed that the sink that was sent by Home Depot was damaged and could not be installed. We would need to obtain a replacement and reschedule the installation. Don informed us that he would not charge a service call visit at this time and to contact him once we were ready with the replacement sink. Attached are pictures of the superb installation that we are extremely happy with. Don the owner of Eastern Plumbing is exceptionally talented, provides excellent customer service and is a pleasure to work with. I would not hesitate to use his services again and would highly recommend him to anyone that requires a professional plumber."

"Installation went very well and was pleased with the prompt, professional work. However, the old toilet was left in our alley for pick up the next day as the truck was full. That did not happen and had to contact them multiple times to remind them to remove it."

"Two hours of plumbing services purchased through Angie's list for $99.00.   First appointment was cancelled due to emergency cold weather issues for plumber who needed to thaw frozen pipes for other customers. I waited and then needed to call him back to make another appointment happen. Needed a new stopper in the tub which was close to but a bit under $50.....he stated it was easier to round off the number and charged me $50 for the part. He fixed the level of hot water available in the 3 bathrooms."

"It went great. Had them install a new tank less water heater because our old one went out. Everything went so well we had them come back and install a whole home water filtration system. We love both items. The owner was awesome. She was friendly and accommodating. Would definitely recommend their services to anyone."

Toilets questions, answered by experts

The order of your bathroom renovation should prevent damage to the completed work. Start with demolition and removing the old fixtures. Then, address structural repairs or water damage, if needed. Next, tackle the rough-in phase for plumbing and electrical work, install waterproofing, and work on wall treatments like tile or paint. Install your shower or bathtub, toilet, vanity, and sink. Flooring goes in after major fixtures but before the toilet. Lastly, install new lighting fixtures, mirrors, and other finishing touches as desired.

Depending on the issue and materials, costs range from $150 to $500.

The cost to install a new toilet typically runs from $225 to $530. This doesn’t include the price of the toilet itself, which can cost $90 to $1,500 depending on the model and features you choose. You can save money if you choose to install a toilet yourself. However, you might want to hire a pro for this project.

"Due to the many complexities of replacing a toilet flange, it is typically a job best left to the pros," says Jeff Botelho, Angi Expert Review Board member and plumber. "Many times it isn't as simple and straightforward as 'pop off the old one and pop on a new one' because the flange is either glued on (PVC/ABS), soldered on (brass/copper), or caulked in place with a lead & oakum joint (cast iron) and none of these things can be easily reversed without years of training and repetitive practice."

If you notice that your toilet is leaking puddles near the base, the leak is coming from your toilet bowl, and the water could be unsanitary. This is a situation that needs to be dealt with immediately—call a nearby plumbing repair pro right away. A contained leak from tank to bowl is not as urgent a situation, but it could be raising the cost of your water bill—have it looked at as soon as you can.

Sometimes, your insurance policy may cover leaking toilet repair. However, home insurance policies typically do not cover any plumbing problems. They do cover water damage caused by a busted pipe or a major leak. Some insurance companies also have riders that expand your initial coverage to include plumbing items. Talk to your agent for more information.
