"He called as he was going to run late, actually was on time. Preformed tune up, inspection and cleaned the air conditioning unit. Tested for Carbon Monoxide, advised as to the problem with the Humidifier and solution (rental so it was to expensive for me to preform for a landlord out of the goodness of my heart, but if my property would not be a problem cost wise), replaced filter and advised on the best companies to do the air duct cleaning. Very professional and helpful in that he helped move the desk back to the wall where the entrance to the crawl space is after the work was completed. Great value for the service provided, shopped around and the cost was excellent, both furnace and air conditioning received attention."

"I called these guys after a quick online search and needed someone to come that day to clear a drain and check all our the plumbing in the house we just purchased after a major flooding incident. The tech they sent was right on time, fast, knowledgeable and friendly. He had been in plumbing for several decades and knew his stuff, he put my mind at ease instantly about the fixtures and cleared the drains that were clogged quickly. I wouldn't hesitate to use these guys again!"

Basement Waterproofing questions, answered by experts

Signs include persistent dampness, mold or mildew presence, musty odors, and visible water stains. If any of these occur, it is advisable to contact a professional for an inspection.

Mold and other fungi love moisture, so the best way to prevent mold growth after water damage is to remove as much moisture as possible. First, find the source of the water or moisture, such as a leak or clogged gutters, and correct the problem. Next, remove standing water, vacuum up puddles with a shop vacuum, and run blower fans and dehumidifiers for 24 to 72 hours. Once you've removed all traces of moisture, disinfect the area using either vinegar or bleach to kill any remaining mold spores.

Basements with persistent moisture problems or flooding shouldn’t be finished until the moisture issues have been fixed. In addition, if your foundation is cracked, you have unmitigated radon levels, or you have asbestos or lead pipes, remediate the underlying problem before finishing your basement. Turning a basement into living space before fixing these issues can lead to serious health risks or structural damage.

Typically, waterproofing a basement should last up to 10 years. However, it’s worth noting that with proper maintenance and depending on the waterproofing method and installation quality, you can probably squeeze another decade out of it.

In most cases, it is safe to live in a home with minor foundation problems, but you should not let the issues persist. Virtually all foundations have small cracks from normal settlement, which are not a structural concern but should be sealed to prevent water intrusion. However, major damage—such as large structural cracks, sinking foundations, or bulging walls—can make a home unsafe. Other issues that can pose safety and health risks include poor indoor air quality from mold or pests, uneven floors, and rotten beams or joists. It is always best to have a foundation repair expert or structural engineer inspect any issues to determine if your home is safe to live in.
