"Hired Marco Construction to repair our warping deck that all other companies wanted to rip down. They fixed the warp, installed railing and an animal barrier. Good communication and workers were very respectful throughout the process and they completed it quick!"

"Daniel and the team were professional, considerate, honest and timely with their work. We had over 5 bids for our project which was a large investment and went through a long vetting process. Daniel answered all my questions honestly and provided a consultative approach to the project. We had a concrete pour and a deck rebuild D&D could do both, most contractors could only do the deck and said we needed to outsource the concrete elsewhere. The deck project was done in two weeks and the outcome was better than what I had imagined. The team was very clean and picked up all remnants of the materials, I highly recommend D&D for any deck or patio repair, rebuild, or new build. They are honest and hard working, will definitely give a referral or use for any future projects on our house. Glad I found this team. "We hired Rodriguez Remodeling and Repair in May 2022 to complete a deck that our first contractor left unfinished. We had hired the first contractor in September 2021 and after many starts and stops for many different reasons we never saw him again after December 2021. This is our 5th home and we have worked with many contractors over the years this was new territory for us. So we finally decided Rodriguez Remodeling and Repair was our choice to help us finalize the project. We were NOT disappointed. It took his worker, Aurelio a week to finish the new stairs and railing. The finished deck is absolutely beautiful and we should enjoy it for many years. We did have to call Florencio afterward about minor details that needed attention and the repairs were usually completed the same day to our satisfaction. He will be the first person we will call for our next project."

"Excellent work building a new deck over a lifted concrete slab to incorporate both the front door and office door on the same level. Greatly improved access to the house. Good communication with contractors and the owner came on-site most days to ensure work was proceeding in the correct direction, offered advice for tricky situations and helped keep the project moving despite the weather."

"For the most part, Trio did a very good job. The demolition of the old deck went well. The building of the new deck went well. The new deck looks great, and we're happy with it, so far. The steps had to be redone, but they got it right, the second time. Many of the days, Jason and Nick were on site to monitor the construction crew which was a good feeling. They did a great job with the clean-up process afterwards, too. The only concern I had was that it took about 2 or 3 weeks after I made my down payment before I heard from Trio, and I had to contact them. I would have liked to have been informed on steps taken on a weekly basis. There were a few times, that I didn't receive a response back after leaving messages for them. They can improve in this area, too. But overall, we're happy with our new deck, and I would recommend Trio Construction for any projects you are considering for your residence or business."

Deck Repair questions, answered by experts

The proper and most comfortable height for a deck stair riser, also called a step, is between four and seven inches. A height of seven inches is often considered ideal for a strain-free step that minimizes the risk of trips and falls. While it is possible to have risers up to 12 inches, this height can be challenging for children, pets, or individuals with mobility issues. For optimal safety and comfort, pair a seven-inch riser with a tread depth (or run) of at least 10 to 12 inches. Always check your local building codes, as they may have specific requirements that differ from these general recommendations.

Pressure-treated decking may be worth it if you want a natural, insect- and rot-resistant decking material that will last for decades with proper maintenance. As such, it’s a much better option than untreated pine. Alternative wood decking materials like cedar and redwood tend to be less durable and more expensive. Some homeowners prefer composite decking, which is a low-maintenance alternative to wood but is also more costly.

The cost to build a deck around a pool typically ranges from $3,000 to $12,000, depending on the size, material, and whether you tackle the build yourself. Most people pay an average of $5,000 for their pool deck project. Hiring a pro to build a pool will cost you more for labor, but it will be worth it to ensure a safe and secure installation.

Yes, pressure washing a wood deck can be a good idea as it effectively lifts ingrained dirt, mold, and mildew, improving the deck's appearance and longevity. However, it must be done carefully, as it's easy to damage the wood, especially softwoods. To pressure wash safely, use a lower pressure setting and a wide, 40-degree fan pattern nozzle (often white). Keep the nozzle at least a foot away from the wood surface and maintain constant motion, avoiding hovering in one spot to prevent gouging.

Pressure-treated wood contains preservatives that give the material internal protection from rot and pests. Untreated lumber won’t last more than a few years unless you choose a more expensive wood, like cedar, that naturally stands up well to moisture. Composite decking can outlast wood but is more expensive and doesn’t look as natural. Keep in mind that you’ll need to seal any exterior wood product to protect it from the elements and other forms of external damage.
