"â â â â â A Phenomenal Experience with Sloan's Tree Service! I cannot say enough great things about Sloan's Tree Service! From the very beginning, Aric, the owner, and his wife Madison were a delight to work with. They took the time to truly collaborate with us, ensuring that we got exactly what we wanted. They were attentive to our needs and worked within our budget, which was a big plus! Aric and his team exceeded our expectations in every way. Not only did they schedule and perform the work quickly, but the results were outstanding. They removed two large trees and expertly ground the stumps until they were practically non-existent. Additionally, they cut the remaining wood into firewood-length pieces and stacked them, just as we had requested. The brush was completely cleared, and they left our yard looking immaculate. It's hard to believe the transformation our yard underwent in such a short period of time! Aric and Madison were not just fantastic professionals, but also genuinely lovely people. It was an absolute pleasure to meet and work with them. We can't recommend Sloan's Tree Service highly enough! We will certainly be referring them to all our friends, family, and neighbors. I am thrilled to have finally found a go-to "tree guy". Don't hesitate to give them a call â you won't be disappointed!"

"James and Matt are excellent at what they do! Both are very knowledgeable arborists. They removed an 80â ft dead Cottonwood and trimmed several trees and bushes. They showed up on time, cleaned up, and stayed to do an additional service at the last minute. They have reasonable pricing. Arborist Prime will now be my tree service. I highly recommended them."

"Devora tree service did an amazing job trimming our trees. We were concerned about our turf getting damaged during the process but, Jesus had said that the crews would lay down tarps to protect the turf and they did. They were there on time and cleaned up very well. I will definitely hire them again in the future."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Pruning trees is important for several reasons. It improves tree health and strength by removing dead, diseased, or unwanted branches, which in turn encourages new growth and can help treat disease. For fruit trees, proper pruning can lead to a larger and better-quality harvest. Pruning also enhances safety by removing weak limbs that could break and fall, potentially causing injury or property damage, especially during storms. Beyond these functional benefits, pruning can also improve a tree's appearance. To ensure pruning is done correctly for the tree's long-term health, consider hiring a professional.

Generally, homeowners do not need permission to cut down a tree on their own private property, but there are several exceptions where a permit may be required. You might need a permit if the tree is particularly large, old, or a protected species, such as a heritage tree. Trees located near public property or power lines can also be subject to special rules. Additionally, many local governments and homeowners associations (HOAs) have regulations controlling which trees can be removed to manage an area's appearance or prevent the spread of invasive species. To avoid hefty fines, it is crucial to check with your local government and HOA to determine if a permit is needed before you begin.

Since each tree is different, it’s impossible to say how long a dead tree can remain on your property. While it could be days, months, or even years, it’s highly likely that, at some point, the tree will fall. In the meantime, dying or dead trees can become a haven for pests, so it’s best to have them removed sooner rather than later.

Aside from removing dead or diseased branches, you should prune your trees somewhere between every one and three years. Some people—particularly commercial farmers—prune their apple trees yearly to produce higher yields. This is the best way to promote tree health. That said, the average homeowner can get away with hard-pruning their mature apple tree every other year or every three years.

Ivy eventually kills trees by restricting its growth, blocking sunlight, absorbing nutrients and water from the soil, and weakening the tree. Trees with ivy are more likely to experience diseases, pests, rot, and fungi growth. When ivy weighs down tree branches, the tree is more likely to break during a storm and cause damage.
