"Showed up on time, kept to the quote and did a beautiful job tiling the shower and floor. There were some issues with the prep so I'd recommend being sure your structural work is solid and just having them do tile work only (not installing cement board, niches or heated flooring.) However, as mentioned, the tile work is absolutely fantastic! I mean really really beautiful."

"I greatly enjoyed my experience with Floorsn24. I recently bought my first new home and I wanted to revamp it before moving in. There was old stained carpet in the dining room, living room, and bedrooms and I wanted to update it to something more modern and easy to clean. My mom helped me during this process and initially corresponded with Kelly, one of the calling agents who set up the quote appointment. She was super friendly and responsive. For the free quote appointment, I was assigned to Bill. He arrived on time and then I explained how I wanted to remove the carpet in the living room and dining room and then lay LVP down from the entryway, through the living room, dining room, and into the kitchen. I also explained how I wanted to update the carpet in my master bedroom and walk-in closet to newer carpet. He quickly took his measurements and gave his input when I asked certain questions for advice. Previous floor estimators tried to hike up prices by saying I had various leveling issues or theyâ d need to redo all my baseboards, but Bill did not agree when I spoke to him about their â concernsâ . He said my place might have few areas that were unlevel, but that it wouldnâ t comprise the LVP. He also said the baseboards may drop or rise, but it wouldnâ t be significant, and the floorers would remove the baseboards carefully and put them back in place like a puzzle. Bill brought in multiple samples for LVP, and at the time I only had a few free Home Depot tiles to compare to. Unfortunately, the samples I had from Home Depot werenâ t the exact shade I wanted. Additionally, the natural lighting during the day that Bill arrived was not optimal as it was overcast and made it hard to see the true color of the planks. I ended up choosing an LVP option that Bill quoted me for that I was not happy with once I looked at it online in pictures. It was too brown and too â choppyâ . I wanted a material that had tans, browns, and greys in it to compliment most furniture. I communicated my concerns with Bill and he said that unfortunately heâ d need to come back out for another quote. He set up a time and brought more samples tailored to my request and I absolutely LOVE the choice I ended up with. Iâ m glad I stuck to my guns and didnâ t go with the first option. He updated my quote and my new material option was a bit cheaper so I saved even more money! The quote itself was already competitive by being way more affordable than other previous quotes. I really appreciate the time Bill took to come out again and make my vision a reality. Once I approved the quote, Jesse bought the materials for me and then assigned my flooring appointment with Louis and his team of 3. They came on time and quickly demoâ d the rug from my living room and dining room as well as the linoleum in the entryway and kitchen. They also took off my baseboards and labeled them. The next day Louis and his team finished the LVP job in the morning. Two more floorers came and installed the carpet in my master bedroom and walk-in closet. I had a ton of fears entering this process, from the materials chosen to the installation, but even though the baseboards dropped a bit there is very little retouch work left for me to do. The material chosen for the LVP is phenomenal. It cleans easily and looks amazing. The carpet I chose for my bedroom is plush and feels great to walk on! I would definitely recommend this service and Iâ m already loving walking on the result. Total time it took was ~1.5 days to remove the old floors and install the new one! Materials Chosen: LVP: LW Mountain Arlington Series, History Oak Anise Carpet: Portsmith, Sandstone"

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

The best trowel for penny tile is a 3/16-inch-by-5/32-inch V-notch trowel. Because of the small size of the penny tile, you want a trowel with small notches that can lay a thin layer of mortar on the surface you’re tiling. If the notches are too wide, you risk applying too thick of a layer of mortar, and it can squeeze out between the penny tiles.

No, when done correctly, removing the tile shouldn’t damage the subfloor. However, if there was pre-existing damage to the subfloor from standard use or lack of maintenance, the subfloor may need repairs. For example, if the contractors notice mold growth on the subfloor or an uneven surface, you may need more extensive services before installing new tile.

If you DIY tile removal, remove the tiles one step at a time, individually removing the tile, grout, and mortar to prevent unnecessarily damaging the subfloor. Depending on the age of your home, consider having a professional inspect the subfloor to ensure it’s in good enough condition to lay new tile.

Yes, unfortunately, it is normal for wall and floor tiles to crack, especially when you drop heavy items on tiled floors or place heavy objects on them. Tiles are also more susceptible to cracking when ceramic tiles designed for walls are installed on floors, as these are often not strong enough to handle heavy loads from foot traffic and furniture. Similarly, tiles that are installed incorrectly, lack adequate subflooring, or have other installation problems are prone to cracking. To avoid these problems and the inevitable repair and replacement costs they bring, always hire a professional for tile work and follow best practices for installation.

There are no unbreakable rules of design, but experts recommend against using large tiles in areas with poor subflooring where they’re more prone to cracking, in areas where the floor isn’t entirely level, over raised areas or dips, and in bathrooms where budget is the primary concern. The size of your bathroom shouldn’t be a reason not to use large tiles; in fact, larger tiles, also known as slab tiles, can be a modern and sleek choice for bathroom floors and walls.

Glass, ceramic, porcelain, and natural stone are all excellent choices for tiling a shower floor. Some glazed finishes can be slippery when wet. Your tiling contractor can provide more information on which tiles will work best for your shower floor.
