"We couldn’t have been more pleased with the service. We contacted V&L Appliances because of the reviews we had read on Angie’s List and totally agree with the previous customers. We would definitely use V&L again."

"I’ve always had a good experience with them.  They do appliance repair and they offer a maintenance plan which has been really useful.  A lot of people wonder if they have to take a maintenance plan and it’s really worth it if they take it especially on older appliances.  My experience has been that way.  They were able to fix the problem.  It’s the maintenance plan that I pay for, for 5 years and I don’t remember the price.  I would use them again in the future if need be.         "

"The technician did an excellent job. It did take a while to get the repair finished, but that was due to Bertazzoni delivering the parts. I have had multiple problems with this particular appliance. My range now works better than it did when new, but I have a feeling that even if I have continuing problems with it, American Home Shield will just repair rather than replace due to the cost of the range. By the way, I'm not exactly sure of the date of the repair."

Appliance Repair questions, answered by experts

If you’re storing a refrigerator in an unheated space, appliance manufacturers recommend removing all food and items and keeping it unplugged. Additionally, make sure there is no water supply and the icemaker is set to off. After cleaning the interior, you can place a box of baking soda inside and keep the doors propped open so no mold or mildew grows.

Hiring a reputable appliance removal company can start with a referral from a family member or friend or online recommendation. Research the company to ensure they have positive customer reviews and provide the services you need within your budget.

Ask your potential appliance removal company the following questions before hiring:

  • Are you able to disconnect my appliance before removing it?

  • Are you fully insured?

  • Does the removal price include the cost of dumping?

  • Do you offer any kind of warranty that covers damage to my property during the removal?

You can run a small or basic standard-size refrigerator on a 15-amp circuit. But you should plug a modern, standard-size refrigerator into a 20-amp dedicated circuit. The refrigerator needs to be on a dedicated circuit, meaning it is the only appliance and outlet on that circuit breaker. This method prevents tripping the breaker and reduces the chance of an electrical fire

An air conditioner’s watt usage depends on multiple factors, including the type of AC unit, its size, and how often you use it. With that said, most central air conditioners consume between 3,000 and 3,500 watts. Meanwhile, window AC units use 900 to 1,400 watts, and portable air conditioners consume 2,900 to 4,100 watts.

You can lay a refrigerator down to move it with a lot of padding underneath, but it’s best to transport it upright to keep the cooling refrigerant and compressor oil in place. These elements can cause blockages if not given time to settle before turning the fridge on.

If you need to lay the fridge down to move it, position the fridge door hinges so that doors won’t open while moving.
