"Our water heater started leaking on Sunday. Isaac responded to our query within minutes. He rearranged his schedule to be here early Monday morning. He arrived on schedule and our water heater was installed and functioning by noon. He is not only professional, fair and knowledgeable but a great guy."

"Awesome! Raul and his team repaired my tile in a quicker time than estimated, within cost (cheaper than other estimates) and at a high quality. He matched the grout and saved my tiles from breaking. He explained the whole process and was very communicative. Iâ  d highly recommend."

"CM TILE INC is by far a superior tile/flooring install company. The job started on time and finished on time. They showed up everyday on time and worked full days. When the job was complete nothing needed to be fixed or redone. They are a class act and I highly recommended them. Everything a home owner worries about when hiring a contractor is not an issue with this company. If you donâ t hire them you are going to wish you did!"

"Our balcony floor had for some reason been previously patched with roofing material that had failed over the years, and was now allowing rain to leak into the garage below. After pulling off the affected garage drywall, we could see that the balcony supporting timber had been seriously damaged, so it was time to call in the professionals! After reviewing local contractors, we called in California Home Center to advise us on what we needed to do to fix this issue. CHC quickly outlined the work needed, and gave us a reasonable price for the work. The first task was to replace all damaged timber, to ensure that we were building on a solid foundation. Next, CHC build a solid multi layer waterproof floor, with all new flashing, where we selected the final texture and paint finish. In order to do all of this work, some of the balcony stucco and garage drywall had to be removed, which was beautifully restored once the work was done, including priming and painting. The work took around 2 and a half weeks to do from start to finish, and we are delighted with the results! I would recommend CHC for any building work that you need done on your house based on our experience with them!"

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

When choosing between porcelain and ceramic tile, the best option depends on your specific needs, budget, and project application. Porcelain tile is generally more durable, denser, and harder than ceramic, making it a good choice for busy, high-traffic areas. It also offers superior moisture resistance, making it ideal for moisture-retaining spaces. However, porcelain is typically more expensive, and its hardness can make it brittle, potentially causing it to crack if a heavy object is dropped on it. In contrast, ceramic tile is a more budget-friendly option with lower material and installation costs. It is softer and easier to work with, making it a great choice for DIY projects. While not as durable as porcelain, ceramic is still a quality material suitable for many home applications, particularly small, decorative projects.

You can often find many types of peel and stick tile at big-box home improvement stores. Other places to shop for this type of material include home decor websites, other types of big-box stores, and even directly from the manufacturer. It’s a good idea to order a tile sample first to see how you like the look and feel before installing it.

Yes, you can tile over existing tiles in a bathroom, but it is not always recommended. For this method to be successful, the original tile surface must be clean, flat, and free of damage such as cracks, unevenness, mold, or mildew. While tiling over existing tiles can save time and money, there are potential drawbacks. The new adhesive may not bond properly, and the process adds extra weight to the wall or floor. Additionally, the increased height of the surface could interfere with door clearances. For the best and most durable results, removing the old tiles before installing new ones is generally the better option.

Travertine is a natural stone, while porcelain is ceramic. You can enjoy the best of both worlds with porcelain travertine tiles. Some people prefer porcelain to travertine because it doesn’t require regular maintenance and it’s easier to clean. Porcelain travertine looks like the real thing but only costs $3 to $6 per square foot.

If the hearth ends against a wall, you can use a tile cutter as you normally would. However, if the edge of your hearth ends with no surface pressing against it,you may want to look into rounded tiles. These give a smooth edge to your hearth and make sure cut edges aren’t visible. You can also see if the tile you have has pieces that have been glazed or rounded on one edge. You’d then cut the tile and place it normally, with the cut edge facing inward.
