"Could not have been happier with the flooring installation. The team came out and did a formal estimate, then worked with us when our timeline for installation shifted a few times. They were super fast - both in material procurement (we were working on a very condensed timeline) and in installation (everything was done in 1.5 days). Installers were very professional and courteous, even while working around another couple of crews painting and working on the electrical. Would definitely hire again!

"I had gotten a bid from this company several years ago. When I called to get the work done- they remembered me- and used the same bid to do the work. I was under a very tight deadline - and they accommodated my time line- even over the 4th of July week-end. The guys who did the work spent a lot of time on each phase including draping plastic in doorways to block the dust. When it was all done- the tape did take off some paint around my kitchen area- but they did bring that to my attention- other than that- everything went really well. My wood floors look amazing. I wish I had done this years ago."

"Subject I had an excellent experience working with this wooden floor specialist Bryon. From start to finish, he was professional, personable, and extremely accommodating. He took the time to clearly explain the damage to my flooring, what repairs were needed, and provided an accurate and honest assessment of both the scope of work and the timeframe to complete it. The job was completed efficiently and exactly as described, with great attention to detail. The repaired flooring looks fantastic, and the work was done on schedule with no surprises. I truly appreciated his professionalism, clear communication, and respect for my home. I would highly recommend him to anyone in need of wooden floor repairs or restoration. See 3 pics for damaged wooden floor and fourth picture of completed floor to the left of photo. He did a suburb job and yes, I will be hiring and recommending him to my friends, relatives and neighbors. Best Regards, Darryl Kimble of Hawthorne, CA"

"Scott with Olde Tyme Floors is a second generation hardwood flooring craftsman. Scott saved me after a BAD flooring installation a decade ago, and corrected all of the defects. When I was ready to install hardwood floors in my new home, Scott is the ONLY contractor I called - he is the ONLY person I would trust. Scott is honest as can be and his prices are fair. Scott's crew has been with him for 15-25 years and they are loyal and respective craftsmen themselves. Scott has now expanded into "luxury vinyl hardwood" flooring, and so he can accommodate all budgets. I can't recommend Scott enough."

"Mario's provided accurate estimate of project, ordered custom maple flooring to match existing floor. Mario's team was very professional with installation of new floor and refinishing existing floor. They went the extra mile to insure we were happy with results. 70 year old floor looks amazing and the new floor matches well. Neighbors were impressed and are interested in Mario's team for their own floor projects."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, water coming up from the floor should be treated as an emergency. If you're unable to either identify or stop the source of the water on your own, contact an emergency plumber right away. In addition to harming your flooring, standing or pooled water can lead to water-damaged concrete.

If you have a concrete subfloor, you must secure the carpet padding with adhesive or glue. However, if you have a wooden subfloor, use staples instead. Removing a glued-down carpet can be difficult and time-consuming, so it’s best to avoid glue when possible.

Many doorways feature two door jambs. These are installed on both sides of a doorway to prevent the door from swinging too far. Door jambs usually stop the door at 180 degrees when closed.  A doorway floor transition sits between the door jambs on the floor, helping to create a safer and more aesthetically pleasing transition from one flooring type to the next.

To prep a floor for painting, start by sweeping and cleaning any loose debris that could puncture the protective material. Take out as much furniture as possible. Then lay plastic, canvas, rosin paper, or masonite sheets across the room, securing them at the edges with masking tape. Plan your painting so that you minimize the chances you’ll step in and track any splatters.

The best flooring materials for a mudroom are porcelain and ceramic tiles. Both are easy to clean and maintain, and they're also water-resistant and highly durable. If you're not a fan of those types, you can also choose another nonporous flooring for your mudroom, such as stone or sealed concrete. Stay away from linoleum, cork, hardwood, and engineered wood, as water and moisture in your mudroom will damage these quickly.
