"Having managed dozens of renovations over the years, both commercial and residential, I can say that Joe Messineo is the best contractor I have ever hired, in any craft. No minor distinction. A 3rd generation master stone mason, Joe is an old school modern craftsman who produces quality builds. I engaged him to demolish and rebuild virtually all of the hardscape at my home---driveway, side walkways, French drain, brick patio inserts, and over 150 feet of retaining walls. A 7-week job, with more than a few moving parts. Joe’s team, Enrique and Claudio, worked like stunt men in a choreographed manner, carefully removing thousands of pounds of old concrete and cinder blocks, positioning rebar and framing the sites for cement. The worksite was clean and orderly at the end of each day. Then, 2 generations of Messineo---Joe, with a guest appearance by his father, built a complex series of retaining walls and brick inserts, that will clearly last decades longer than the original work from 1959. Every line dead-level, every elevation plumb, and every surface finished perfectly. The concrete team that completed the job with 2 truckloads of wet mix, delivered flawless slabs of new surface. Their overall level of craftsmanship and professionalism is not often to be seen these days, and it deserves recognition when it arrives."

"Mike is hands down the best contractor we have ever hired. The previous owners of our house had done some beautiful and expensive hardscaping and landscaping probably 40 years ago, but it was all badly in need of renovation when we bought the house a few years ago. We wanted to restore it all and make a few improvements rather than start over, and Mike was fully on board with that approach from the moment he arrived. All I had to do was show him what needed to be addressed, and he immediately knew the right way to handle everything, including how to address all our concerns about pitch and drainage, since our property slopes down from the street. He restored our property and made it even more beautiful that we imagined it could be. In particular, he had the idea of covering our existing concrete walkways and steps with blue stone instead of demolishing and pouring new concrete--it cost about the same, is gorgeous, and goes perfectly with house and front yard area. But everything he did looks like it was meant to be here--nothing looks like an add-on. In addition to his great design ideas, Mike was very engaged and responsive. Not only does he have a great crew, but he was at our house almost every day checking their work, having them fix details that weren't to his standards, and walking me through what was done and what would be done next. "Right from the start things went well. Or salesman, Chris, presented the company's services in a straightforward fashion and gave us addresses of other projects so we could see some similar projects installed. We had other quotes for the job, one a little higher and another a lot higher. Price was not the driving factor - we just felt more comfortable working with Pacific Outdoor and the low price was just a bonus. Once we signed on the process went very smoothly. Jorge, a supervisor, came out right away and went over the details and a demolition crew showed up a couple days after that. Fun to watch these guys work - with all their big equipment they had our old concrete driveway out before noon and started preparing the bedding. The next day the installation crew arrived and went right to work. I worried that if I asked for minor changes someone would tell me it wasn't in the contract and would entail additional cost. Not the case. The two or three I asked for were done without any discussion. We anticipated the job would take five days and they were done in four. The last day was a Saturday so they didn't leave the job sitting there partially completed over the weekend. We're all done, very pleased and getting lots of compliments from the neighbors. If I have another project I won't hesitate using these good folks."
