"Excellent communication from the first meeting to look at the roof, through establishing the contract, scheduling, and completing the work. There was unexpected additional action required at the end of the project and, Rene, the Superintendent, followed up and had that completed ASAP. I also want to comment that the roof replacement was done on my parents' home in S.Calif. I live in the Seattle area. I had hoped to be there during the roof replacement but the timing was such that I could not be. Rene was accessible to me by phone or email if I had questions or was working through details on behalf of my parents. He always responded in a timely manner. Rene also went above and beyond by taking pictures of each stage of the project, emailing them to me with updates. My parents asked me to be on point so much of the communication came to me, yet Rene also kept my parents' updated. Jordan Roofing is professional, timely, and clean up was thorough. Excellent customer service and high quality work. Even the city roof inspector commented that Jordan Roofing Company does excellent work. I highly recommend Jordan Roofing Company."

"Highly recommended! Adam Tweedy and his team repaired our 'cool roof' and three patio decks in just two days. The crew was efficient, careful with our furniture, and the installation was impressive. The roof passed the water test, proving its quality. An added bonus: they didn’t need to remove our solar panels, saving us time and money. For a reliable, water-tight roof at a reasonable price, call Reign Roofing!"

"George is the best! We bought an older hone that desperately needed a new roof. He gave us great advice that contradicted other people and he was totally right on everything. Great at communicating - you know exactly what heâ s doing, how long it will take, etc. He also did an amazing job on our roof. 10/10!"

"I had a very difficult project. My roof has a very steep pitch, multiple planes and is difficult to access. August roofing was extremely professional and met the challenge. My new roof looks great and the company was very responsive to my needs. Every morning the crew was on time and I really appreciate the managers on the project as well. I intend to recommend this company to my friends for future projects."

"I had it in my mind to have my roof replaced for some time. The roof already had three layers that were the maximum could be added on an existing house which including its original roof the first layer. To make the job complicate, the combined central A/C unit was located on the top of the roof, also the old insulations needed to be removed from the attic. I knew I needed a reliable professional to do this job. Among several roofing companies, I choose Eclipse Remodeling, Inc. The reasons are:(1) Credentials - have valid Ca. State licenses under the name of Ehud Zadok, the president (2) Experience - company is in business since 2006 (3)Reviews - the remarks are good. It took 5 days to complete this job. I am very satisfied with the finished work. Ehud (Udi) came to the Jobsite to instruct and to check the procedures of installation every step of the way during the process. To prevent leaking, the procedures should be correct, so the roof will be sealed without gapping. Ehud (Udi) said to me that my roof is his roof. he does not allow any substandard materials or poor workmanship taking place in his customerâ s job. Everything he had agreed upon on the contract, he fulfilled. He has a very dedicated team of workers working for him. Their knowledge and expertise made a seemly complicate task went smoothly. I highly recommend this company and I would refer Eclipse to my friends."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Skipping the installation of a drip edge or gutter apron can lead to significant water damage. Without this component, water is more likely to seep under roofing materials or leak behind gutters, damaging the fascia, soffits, siding, and even the interior of your home, such as the attic. Over time, this moisture can cause rot, mold, and deterioration. In colder climates, a missing drip edge also increases the risk of ice dams, which can lead to expensive repairs. A drip edge is an essential part of a roof's drainage system, and some local building codes may even require its installation to protect the home from water damage.

If a home isn’t properly winterized, the pipes can freeze and burst, causing flooding and massive property damage. It can also leave your house susceptible to pests, which can infest it and cause significant damage. Winterizing a home can prevent many potential issues and save you money on costly repairs.

Some people prefer to use connectors consisting of galvanized metal to replace the birdsmouth cuts on the rafter board. Common names for these metal pieces include hurricane ties and variable-pitch connectors. Making birdsmouth cuts is more cost-effective than purchasing these connectors for each rafter. However, because making large birdsmouth cuts to accommodate extra-wide exterior walls can weaken the rafter, a connector may be the better option in some cases.

It’s possible for a roofing estimate to change after the initial assessment, but in most cases, it shouldn’t. There’s always the risk that something unexpected will happen that causes prices to go up, like discontinued materials or your roofer discovering previously hidden damage to your decking when ripping off the old roof. However, experienced roofers should account for these circumstances in their initial estimates. Roofing contracts are binding, so always check your contract for language about how and why your numbers could change.

Before hiring a roofing contractor, it's wise to ask several key questions. Inquire if they are licensed for roof replacement and repair and if they hold any special certifications. Ask if they will be completing all the work themselves or subcontracting parts of it. It's also important to understand the project timeline, whether they will remove the old roof or place new shingles on top, and how they will handle cleanup after the project is complete. Finally, ask about warranties for both work and materials, what recourse you have if issues like leaks arise, and if they can provide customer references.
