"We had a wonderful experience using J.A. Wallcovering to install peel and stick wallpaper for our nursery. They scheduled us within a week of us reaching out, were professional, and completed the job very quickly. We had an issue installing peel and stick wallpaper after someone else we originally hired could not complete the job."

"Marty was right on time for his appointment to give the estimate.  He asked the appropriate questions to ensure we were clear on the work to be done.  On workday, his employees showed up on time and ready to work.   They made sure the directions were clear and then got right to work.  T he work was completed in one day and looks beautiful.  I will definitely use them to paint the exterior of my house when I am ready.

"July 2018: It went very well. It was a five day job. In some rooms, they had to remove wallpaper. They did a fine job. They were on time, worked long hours, and did an excellent job. August 2016: Two years ago, they painted the exterior of my previous house. They did a finr job. I would hire them again."

"There are always businesses that stand out from the rest, and that describes Foothill Painting very well. After seeing their excellent work on a neighbor's home, as well as other positive reviews on Angie's List we contacted them for a complete repainting of our house, including a detached three car garage and some interior walls and trim. From the very first meeting with Kevin, one of the co-owners, we knew we were in good hands. All their crew members are regular employees, not sub-contractors. One painter told us that he has been with Foothill for eleven years. The estimate was detailed and professional. They not only painted... They also did quite a bit of stucco and window glazing repair. The prep work was meticulous. What we appreciated the most was their attitude that they would do whatever it took to make sure we were satisfied. Too bad so many businesses don't understand the value of that! Also, they were very careful when moving things out of the way and the cleanup was great. We're sure that there are some other painters who would have submitted a lower bid but, as always, you really do get what you pay for. We feel that we chose the best, and they didn't break our bank."

"The project manager, Tom Cohen, was so helpful from our first meeting. He was knowledgeable about the windows and explained the differences so I could make the best choice for the money I had to spend. The windows were replaced and I'm happy with my beautiful new sliding door. The work was done quickly and my home was left in great condition. I had no clean up to do after the workers finished. Tom helped me process all the paperwork and arranged for financing , also very helpful. I would use this company again and I would ask to work with Tom Cohen. I trust him to help with future projects."

"This is my second time working with West Coast Accomplished Painting. I was so happy with the completed paint work the first time so I reached for Andy’s number immediately for my new project and just as happy this time plus did clean and seamless drywall work! Great attention to detail, responsive communication, helpful recommendations for my project, little extra touches that went above and beyond and all completed in a timely manner. I was in quite the time crunch and they delivered. Thanks for taking my project panic away WCAP! A pleasure to work with! Great team!"

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

Once again, contact with moisture is the culprit here, though water-resistant varieties of wallpaper are less likely to become wet and develop mold. Using a high-quality exhaust fan or dehumidifier and leaving the doors or windows cracked after bathing will keep this issue at bay.

We don’t recommend wallpapering over older paper. That’s because creating layers of glue can invite bubbling or excess moisture on the wall’s surface. You should also prime your wall before applying wallpaper and smooth the wall as much as you can, and another layer of wallpaper complicates this process.

When comparing peel-and-stick and traditional wallpaper, the better choice depends on your specific needs and space. Peel-and-stick wallpaper is more budget-friendly and easier to DIY install. On the other hand, traditional wallpaper lasts much longer and holds up better in a wider variety of spaces, including areas with moisture like kitchens and bathrooms.

Having dated, peeling, or otherwise damaged wallpaper can decrease the value of your property, so removing that before listing your house is nearly always a good idea; however, since wallpaper tends to be a personal style choice, potential buyers may or may not love your aesthetic as much as you do.

Love the look of wallpaper but want to consider property value as well? Stick with something that is easy to change. If you are thinking of selling soon, make sure your wallpaper hanging is on-point and looks professional with no crooked seams, evenly matched patterns, and minimal bubbling or other imperfections.

Painting over wallpaper is an efficient way to cover it if it’s in decent shape. Before painting over wallpaper, make sure the surface is clean and smooth. You may have to remove minor problem areas, such as lifted seams or small peels, with a sheetrock knife or putty knife. Add a latex- or oil-based primer to keep moisture at bay before painting. You’ll likely need two coats of paint to cover the area.
