"Pros: Tim and his team did an excellent job painting the exterior of our house. Before starting the painting process, they made sure to power-wash the entire house, patch and repair portions of the house that needed work, and fix portions of the house that had water damage. Overall we are pleased with his work. Would highly recommend. Cons: - There are three large dead spots in our grass where the painters threw their paint water onto our lawn. - We have minor bubbling on our shutters. I expect things like this to happen, but the problem arose after only a month of the job being complete."

"Was Referred to Color Craft by a friend.  Brett came out and looked at my home.  He looked at my home and gave me a very fair estimate.  His workers were very good about prepping the surfaces before painting.  The finished product looks great, we are very pleased.  Brett was very good about answering question throughout the entire project.  We would refer Color Craft to all our friends."

"Reynaldo was great to work with. He was very communicative and diligent. His crew was highly professional and kept their workspace clean and orderly. He didn't cut corners; everything was stripped and prepped appropriately with efficiency and the job was completed quickly and smoothly. We were also pleased with the results. It was a pleasure to have Reynaldo do the painting and refinishing and we would definitely work with him again because he really cared about giving us a good experience and good results."

Painting questions, answered by experts

Staining pressure-treated wood is a recommended practice. While inherently resilient, it's not impervious to moisture and UV exposure. Staining treated wood is feasible and recommended for enhanced protection and longevity. Applying stain and sealant safeguards against degradation, prolonging its life span. These measures shield the wood from environmental threats while augmenting its aesthetic appeal, ensuring your investment endures the test of time.

Wood stain does go bad, but it will last in the can for between three and six years, provided you use proper storage techniques. Storing wood stain in open containers or in extremely low or high temperatures will cause your wood stain to become unusable much more quickly. Water- and latex-based wood stains typically last for just two to four years, while oil-based wood stains can last for three to six years.

Staining a wood fence isn’t guaranteed to prevent warping, but it can help. Plus, it’s a beginner-friendly DIY project that you can finish in a few days. If you want to try it, you’ll start by stripping it of any old stain or paint, then sanding it. After that, you’ll clean it and spot-treat any mold or mildew. When it’s dry, you can apply the stain.

Rags used with oil-based stains are highly flammable and can spontaneously combust in the right conditions. To reduce the fire risk, throw them in a metal container after use and add rocks on top to secure them. Add an inch of water and seal the container. Take the rags in the container to a hazardous waste factory as soon as possible.

You should inspect the area regularly for rust, clean it with a wire brush, repaint it every few years, and apply a protective sealant to prevent corrosion.
