"We got bids from four contractors and went with Fence 4 U and are happy we did. Guillermo was awesome. He was friendly, reasonably priced, knowledgeable, on time and did great work quickly. Will definitely hire Fence 4 U for the side fence we'll replace next."

"Ken is very knowledgeable and professional. My backyard was not draining well in the last rain after a garage extension. He graded the soil and built a paving stone walkway. When I couldn't find anyone to put sods on the soil, he took on the job and did a great job. I am very happy with the work."

"This project is held up by the insurance process. We are in litigation over a dispute of the value of the property that is being demolished. The time frame for the project is May 9th - June 9th as long as we get the appraisals done. Daniel Shoemaker also referred me to the excavator / grading specialist / foundation contractor. All the foundation contractors that have contacted me through Angie have either told me they don’t do this work or made appointments that they didn’t show up for. Daniel’s team mates seem like they are the best choice that will help us complete this project a-z. I am currently looking for an architect to draw up the foundation plans so that we can get the approvals from the HCD. When I have requested this info from Angi, it keeps ha ing an “error”. I hope that this is a glitch that will resolve itself so we can put the entire project together. With Gratitude, Daemon Owens 269-586-4103"

"In a word, excellent. 100+' of used brick brings symmetrical acuity to previously ill defined plant beds. Low water, drought resistant plants & shrubs complete with drip irrigation system and new LV lighting, adds life & joy to a yard one once avoided. Perhaps the highlight is the 640 sq.ft of synthetic turf. If you have ever considered using such a product you MUST see the new products available through Landscape West. We chose a bi-color Mammoth 80 and the result is amazing. Everyone who has seen the new yard cannot believe how authentic the turf appears. John Hopkins design, the efforts of his crew, and the end result made this a delightful experience, start to finish. We could not be happier nor more grateful."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

No, a ditch isn’t a trench. A ditch is an open, relatively shallow channel that’s carved out of the ground and used for drainage purposes. In contrast, a trench is a deeper excavation that’s entirely underground. Trenches have many uses, including gas lines, sewage systems, and electrical wiring. Unlike trenches, ditches don’t get filled back in with dirt after they’re dug.

Sewer lines can be buried anywhere from 18 inches to 8 feet deep, with a common average depth between 18 and 30 inches. The exact depth depends on local factors like climate and soil type. In colder regions, pipes must be buried deeper (below the frost line) to prevent freezing, sometimes as deep as 8 feet. The digging depth can also impact the cost of sewer line replacement. To find the specific depth for your property, you can check the building plans for your system, which should be on file with your city or local sanitation department since permits are required for installation.

The cost to drill a well varies, with a national average of around $5,500 for a 150-foot well. However, prices can fluctuate significantly based on several factors, including your location, the required well depth, geological conditions, local regulations, and the specific drilling methods used. For the most accurate cost assessment, it is best to research and get quotes from local well-drilling professionals in your area.

No, fire blight does not survive free in the soil but instead is carried through insects, animals, rain, or wind during the spring. Keep in mind that it can also spread on tools, which is why you should always disinfect them in between cuts.

In most areas, you will need a permit for excavation work, even for projects that only involve grading or yard leveling. Permit requirements depend on your local government and the scope of the project, but they are especially common for significant digging or work that could affect utilities or public property. These permits help protect the local topography and prevent drainage issues. An experienced excavation company will typically know whether permits are needed and can often handle the process of pulling and closing them for you. You can also verify permit requirements by contacting your local building department and describing your project.
