"I highly recommend Charlie Nelson's company next level heating and air conditioning. He had to make an extra trip to Home Depot for $2.00 part and he did not add that to his original quote of $309. The $309 included his labor and time. That's what he originally quoted and he stuck to it."

"It's been a couple months since Zach with McDonald's Home Solutions analyzed our air-conditioning needs and had Potts and Vince install the Mitsubishi heat pump and duct work. They were amazing and very hard working. The system is working great and makes a huge difference in the comfort level of our house. It's extremely quiet. It operates like a whisper and we hardly know it's on other than the house is cooler. I checked the energy use of the system against our solar panel productions and it hardly makes a difference. It's amazingly efficient. I strongly recommend anyone considering installation of an HVAC system to use McDonald's Home Solutions. They're the best."

"Albert Nahman PHC installed new AC and Furnace for my house. I like them for several reasons -- 1. At first Tom explained in detail what equipment I need and how they work, and gave me a reasonable and detailed quote at end of the visit. 2. They offer interest free finance. 3. I got free upgrade for furnace when the original quoted is not available. 4. Their installer did good job, and cleaned up afterward. I highly recommend this company."

"Rasu was AMAZING! I had a very unusual clog in my dryer duct and he stayed and worked on it! He took the time to make sure my dryer was working correctly as well. He went above and beyond. "Jim's Air Systems had the best value for my dollar. They supplied me with better equipment than they quoted for the same price. They completed the entire installation in about five hours. They protected my floors with tarps and were very careful to protect my walls as they moved equipment in and out. Josh, the son of the original Jim, was on the job working with the other two installers. They performed above my expectations. They left my home and yard as clean as if they had never been there. The new furnace is wonderful and is already saving me money on my P.G. & E. bill. I would recommend Jim's Air Systems unconditionally to anyone in need of a new furnace and AC system. This is a family business that has been supplying and installing systems since 1976. They take personal pride in doing an excellent job. Capacitors are the most frequent part of an HVAC system to experience failure. These components are crucial for starting the motors that power the fans and compressor, but over time, they may become worn or fail due to electrical surges or regular wear and tear. When capacitors malfunction, HVAC systems may experience decreased heating or cooling efficiency, or even total system failure. Replacement or maintenance of capacitors is a common requirement for the optimal functioning of HVAC systems.

Signs that your air conditioner capacitor is bad or failing include a range of symptoms. The AC unit may not turn on at all, or it might struggle to start before shutting down randomly or in the middle of a cooling cycle. You might hear a humming or banging noise when it attempts to start, or the compressor might hum without the unit actually running. Other indicators include a smell or smoke coming from the unit, the blower circulating room-temperature air instead of cold air, and an unexpected increase in your energy bills.

The DOE is phasing out AC units with SEER ratings that fall below 14 or 15. The exact minimum rating depends on your region. In the northern United States, new ACs must have a minimum SEER rating of 14, though you can still buy and install older systems as long as they were compliant when they were manufactured. In the southern and southwestern United States, you cannot buy or install older air conditioners with lower SEER ratings. The minimum rating is between 14.5 and 15, depending on the power of the unit.

  • Your home doesn’t feel as cool as it usually does.
