"I hired Standard Land Surveying Co. to determine our property line because my new neighbors were installing a fence between our houses and I wanted to be sure they were installing it on their property. I contacted them and spoke to Carlos who explained what they will do to determine our property line and after they were finished they explained the findings and showed me the markers that shows my property line. I was very happy with Standard Land Surveying Co. and I am glad I chose them for this project."

"Fernando and Go Green not only built our dream home, but became a part of our family. He and his team worked daily with care, compassion and were always professional and respectful to our living space and our neighbors. The original portion of our home was built in 1925. Fernando and his crew added a home on the back of our home, a swimming pool, two additional bathrooms and much more, all while my family of 4 lived in the original space. Construction can be very stressful but Fernando and his team always made us feel at ease. We knew we were in good hands. The best part is that all construction was completed and permits were signed off just before the pandemic. We felt like we were the luckiest family on earth living in this beautiful home while working and doing online school. I HIGHLY recommend Fernando Feldman and Go Green Construction for ALL of your construction needs. He does it right the first time and is beyond detailed making sure that you are 100% satisfied with the finished product."

"Very bad not only did they delay the project 6 times. They also threatened residents in the neighborhood and left a huge mess. They would go days without showing up. Horrible experience never again."

"Long story short: Be careful with this company. They provide the services that you didn't ask for and charge the work that they didn't do. I call this company for applying a retaining wall permit. Kevin answered the phone, and I explained him I am going to build a retaining wall in my yard. He said ok. Then he sent me a contract for survey. I didn't look it carefully, then I signed and sent it to them. It is $2982. He sent his daughter here. Even though I explained what I need to do in my yard when they were doing the survey, they still did the survey. Kevin said no matter what, you will need this survey for your land in the future. Okay, I explained what I need to do again, then he charged me $2000 extra. After the first time plan review from the city, it was failed. I talked to Kevin, and he said he knows what to do. He charged me $900 for the soil pressure, I am not sure they did it or not. And he want to charge me $1550 for the quantity of the earth calculation, but I figured it out by myself. Or I will throw $1550 away. He sent me the plan and I submitted to the city again. I also let him know what the city want to correct and show on the plan. You already knew, it failed again! I don't have the patient or money for another failed plan. I already spent $5882 in total, but I didn't even get what I asked for. I will do the small claim and go with other company. In the end: Save your money and choose some other company."

FAQs for land surveying projects in Santa Fe Springs, CA

Land surveying can help give clear guidance on your property boundaries for numerous situations. And in some cases, having your land surveyed is a requirement. Some common reasons to have your land surveyed include:

  • Planning for construction projects, like building a fence

  • Locating utilities, such as plumbing fixtures

  • Settling property line disputes

  • Creating subdivisions

  • Meeting mortgage requirements

  • Selling your property

Land surveying costs about $530 for the average homeowner. However, your total cost could range anywhere from $200 to $1,000 or more. Factors like the size of your property play a significant role in what you pay, but other things like the survey type and the time of year can also impact the final cost.

For example, if you’re looking for a simple boundary survey, you can expect to pay between $100 and $600. However, if you want a more in-depth survey that depicts the elevations of your hills and trees, you can expect to pay between $500 and $1,200 for a topographic survey.

A few different types of land surveys can help determine certain features and boundaries of your property. These include:

  • Boundary surveys describe the actual borders of a property. These are generally required when trying to get construction permits issued.

  • Location surveys provide much of the same information as a boundary survey but also include in-depth information about any improvements made to your property.

  • Mortgage location surveys are usually required by lenders and title companies before financing or offering an insurance policy.

  • Site-planning surveys are done before applying for building permits and can be issued before any major home improvements.

  • Topographic surveys provide a formal map of land elevations. It can also describe the location and size of natural features and any land improvements.

Land survey reports provide a lot of helpful information about your property and land. The exact information provided depends on the type of survey you have done, but common information that they can provide includes:

  • Location of utility fixtures

  • Clear boundaries and dimensions of your property

  • General topography

  • Land elevation information

  • Confirmation of easements or encroachments

Land surveys don’t technically expire. They do serve as a point of reference and a snapshot of your property, though, so as soon as you make changes to your property (and even if your neighbor makes certain changes to theirs), your existing land survey becomes inaccurate, and a new one must be done. Even if you don’t make any changes to your property, many states only guarantee the accuracy of a land survey for five to ten years.
