"Working with Francisco and his team was amazing! From start to finish, they made the whole process of remodeling my house so easy and stress-free. Francisco really listened to what I wanted and came up with creative ideas. He was very responsive and always kept me in the loop. The final result is even better than I imagined. My house looks incredible and I’ve gotten so many compliments from friends and family."

"I reached out to Geico Builders through referral program. Project Manager Mila was super responsive and came out to give me ideas and quote. Once we agreed to the bid they were able to start work in just a few days. I already had a plan and plant list from a landscape architect so I was able to share those documents with them. I had biggest issue with the goffers all over my front yard, the suggestion that Mila gave me was priceless. The way how they did concrete an the amount of rebars they use I knew at that time this concrete stays here for a very long time! Team worked very quickly and efficient always left the job site clean when they left for the day. Mila was also helpful when we added more elements to the original plan. I got several quotes for this job and Geico Builders beat them all. The quality of the work was great so I feel like I got a great deal. Geico Builders thank you so much for all your hard work. We love our new yard!"

"Can't recommend Diebel and Company highly enough. I have worked with this firm 3 times since 2009. Again, in 2015, and once again in 2019. Back in 2009, my wife and I interviewed many architects, and Diebel and Company just made us very at ease. He was always easy to work with, communicative, attentive to our wants and needs, and sensitive to our budget. His work is exemplary throughout our ten years working with him. I wished all businesses were as professional and quality-oriented as Diebel and Company. Do yourself a favor and contact them now with all your construction design needs."

Customers say: Quality work

"Sharmila is fantastic. She works very quickly and figures out how to make time when changes or revisions are needed yesterday. She understands the city permit process, which is helpful in any construction project. She also selects great finishes that take your project to the next level, without it costing too much. She's a team player, collaborates great with the other trades so that ultimately everyone is very happy and very satisfied with the end results."

Architects questions, answered by experts

You likely need to hire an architect for your new house design and build, unless you have the design skills and experience with building regulations and standards needed to get your plans approved. If you are able to meet the design requirements, you can hire a draftsperson to create the blueprints for the builders to follow.

While the Arts and Crafts movement inspired many architectural elements, the primary styles from the time include Craftsman, Tudor Revivals, bungalows, and Mission homes. You'll see elements of these styles in homes, churches, museums, and schools—particularly Country Day schools from the era.

Arched windows used to be most prevalent in more traditional home styles, like Spanish colonial and Gothic, but they are becoming increasingly popular in modern design. You’ll often find arched windows in new home builds across many styles, including farmhouse and contemporary architecture. This represents a more general trend toward more unique houses with interesting features.

The essential difference between an architect and an engineer is that architects typically focus more on the aesthetic design of buildings, although not without consideration for the structural integrity of the building. Engineers focus more on the structural, technical, and practical aspects of whether and how an architectural design can be built as drawn. You may need to hire both types of professionals if you’re designing and building a new home.

When you think about Arts and Crafts-style homes, you probably think of a Craftsman house or a bungalow-style Craftsman. Craftsman is one of the major styles developed during the Arts and Crafts movement, but it checks most boxes. Craftsman houses have low-pitched roofs, exposed rafters, open floor plans, and stunning wood finish.
