"earlier tonight I searched Angies for a locksmith. Several company's came up under Locksmith i sent request for quote to them. MS Locksmith called me and gave a very reasonable quote to rekey my home lock. Within 1 hour or less of the call MS Locksmith was at my door, explained the work to be done, was so nice and pleasant and then just as fast was finished with the job, text me the invoice as per his quote. Payment was so easy they except all types of payment including venmo and zelle and provided me with a detailed paid invoice for my files. The job was done and case closed. I will always call on MS Locksmith for all my future needs and will refer them anytime i can. MS Locksmith A+ Thank you so much for your speedy reply and taking care of my lock needs with zero stress and speed!! Appreciate you"

"Paolo did an excellent job programming two key fobs for my car, an older model. It took only a few minutes and was reasonably priced. I would recommend PLS Locksmith to anyone looking to program a new key fob for their car."

"ADT is the best company to talk to in terms of security alarm. Being a locksmith myself I know how important it is to deal with the right people. I referred a lot of customers to them and so far they are happy with their service. I myself got one for my house. Thank you for a consistent service and great deal."

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

Rekeying a lock changes the internal mechanism so that a new key works, while replacing a lock involves swapping out the entire hardware. Rekeying is a good, cost-effective option when you want to ensure old keys no longer work, such as after moving into a new home or losing a key. It's also ideal if you want to keep your existing lock hardware. You should opt to replace the locks entirely if you want to upgrade to a more secure or different style of lock, if the current lock is old or damaged, after a break-in, or if too many copies of the old key exist.

Thieves can open almost anything with enough time and the right tools, but they also prefer easy targets that are unlikely to get them caught. Forcing open gates is loud and difficult, and to be able to open one electronically requires extensive knowledge of the system, which most thieves don't have. Electric and other security gates are great deterrents because the thief will move to an easier target. If the thief is determined to enter your property, they will most likely find a different entrance point.

Rekeying should be done when employees leave or keys are lost, while replacement may be necessary for outdated or damaged locks.

Yes, but adding a deadbolt to some door materials, like steel, may make installation a little bit trickier. For these materials, you will want to hire a locksmith to do the work for you, but be aware that they may charge an additional fee of $25 to $50 or more.

It depends on the quality of the keyless lock and usage, but in general, you can expect a keyless lock to last around three to five years. The batteries typically last around six to 12 months. The good news is most keyless locks include a low battery indicator so you can receive ample warning if your battery is about to die.
