"I would use the services of Power Up Electric except that they don't work in my area.  I needed some advice over the phone before hiring an electrician and he took the time to explain the answer to me.  He should teach!  He had me draw a simple sketch of the socket we were talking about and gave me a lesson on each part in order to explain the polarity.  And he let me know that it was an easy fix.
