"I bought a new kitchen faucet thinking I could replace it myself. However, the way in which the original plumbing and faucet were done, it required way more work and expertise than I have. Longo Plumbing called immediately and scheduled an appointment for the next morning. Patrick showed up on time, did an assessment of the job and gave me an easy to understand explanation. He completed the job, was respectful of my home, and he even handled another small issue that he found while under the sink. I will use Longo Plumbing again if I have a need."

"Tito and Palani came out today to service my bathtub spout leak and bathroom sink leak. They also checked my hot water pressure in my kitchen sink and master bathroom. They were both professional, personable, and efficient. Tito is very knowledgeable and explained everything as they performed the work and even checked out some of my other fixtures based on me telling him what I was experiencing. They quickly got to work and fixed both leaks. I definitely recommend using Lateral Cleaning Specialist. I chose using them versus my home warranty company who had assigned me another company with an F rating on the BBB website. This is my 4th time using LCS and they always come through for me. Try them."

Small jobs welcome

"Robert was able to come out the day after i called him to do an estimate for the repair job and then did the repair job the next day. Great service! He gave a very fair estimate for the job, was punctual and did the job in the time estimated. Our kitchen ceiling looks great again and Robert was very good about cleaning up after himself when his work was finished. I would very much recommend him to my friends and neighbors."

"Doug was awesome, gave an extremely fair price. Free estimates and no fee service call. His quotes we by far the lowest and he only sold what I needed. He did not try to up sell me anything or say I needed to replace the whole water heater."

Bathtub Replacement questions, answered by experts

The reasons not to install flooring underneath a bathtub outweigh the benefits. A properly installed bathtub will keep water from reaching the unprotected subfloor underneath. Installing a tub on top of finished flooring can lead to damage and scratches to the new floor. Also, a small leak from a tub drain may be more difficult to notice if finished flooring impedes water drips.

A drop-in tub is just one of the types of bathtubs available. Depending on your needs and the space available, you can consider an alcove tub for quick installation, a whirlpool tub for added relaxation, a freestanding tub for a statement piece, or a corner tub to take advantage of the space in a larger bathroom.

If your tub is attached to the wall, the best material will be one that can be shaped to fit your space perfectly. A cast-polymer, acrylic, or fiberglass tub will likely be the easiest to install as a built-in because it can be designed to fit your space.

If you don’t caulk your bathtub, then there won’t be a watertight seal between your bathtub and the wall tile surrounding it. As a result, water can seep into the wall and the floor and cause the perfect breeding grounds for mold and mildew. Not only does this require costly repairs, but mold can be harmful to those breathing it.

There are several ways to save money on a bathroom remodel through proper planning and savvy design strategies. To reduce costs, consider the following:

  • Purchase your own materials: Buy your own bathroom fixtures, hardware, and other materials to avoid contractor upcharges and delivery fees.

  • Shop smart for big-ticket items: Save on pricey items like tiles and tubs by shopping sales and at discount stores.

  • Avoid major layout changes: Keep plumbing in its current location. Opt to replace fixtures rather than moving them to avoid significant renovation work.

  • Focus on high-impact, low-cost updates: Make affordable but impactful smaller changes, such as upgrading hardware, installing new lighting, and adding stylish but economical accessories.

  • DIY where possible: Handle easier parts of the remodel yourself, like painting or installing light fixtures, to save on labor costs.

  • Time your remodel strategically: Consider remodeling in the spring, which tends to be a lower-demand time of year and may result in lower costs.
