"Saul and his crew did an excellent job painting the exterior of our house. They were clean, fast and paid attention to details. They power washed, repaired stucco, caulked all joints, masked, used drop clothes everywhere and painted stucco and trim. All painted lines were sharp and clean. They didn’t even damage any roof tiles. Couldn’t be happier and I highly recommend them."

"Ben is a very personable, neat and conscientious painter. He arrives on time and works at a steady pace. He has done two jobs for me, painting my large wood patio cover and painting all the doors, door casings and cabinets. I would hire him again for other painting jobs."

"I needed to repaint the entire exterior of my home and asked for proposals from multiple sources through online. I actually connected with the workers at The Painting Company. They put in the time to find out as well as look everything over face to face. They developed a precise quote, which I feel was the best worth for what they were going to supply versus other companies. The men that came out to repaint were fantastic! They bore in mind their work and also took the time to do it right. The results are impressive! Everybody in your area comes over to compliment how wonderful of a work these individuals did."

"We contracted King of the Painters to paint the exterior of our home in Clairemont after reading customer reviews about their services. We met with the companies owners who were very helpful in helping us select a new house paint color scheme. The workers were on time and cleaned up the work site each afternoon. We had a few issues with the job and called them to report the issues and they were very quick to come out to correct the discrepancies. We would recommend using them to anyone."

"During the initial appointment, Marcosâ presentation of his company and details regarding our exterior painting project was professional and thorough. Our project included the attached twin house, which required a lot of coordination and communication. Marcos and his crew have exceptional work ethics and knowledge of their craft. Both houses now look beautiful.!"

"Do not hesitate to hire these guys! SD Pro Painting did an excellent job on our 2200 Sq ft house. We had complete interior repair & painting and exterior trim and painted by these pros. Marco (the owner) is very personable and professional. He does exactly what he says he's going to do, shows up on time and communicates everything they are going to do. We are preparing our house for sale, so we've had many different contractors and service crews in our home over the last 6 months, from complete flooring, termite repair, landscapers, plumbers, carpenters, etc, Marco and his crew were the best service we had the pleasure of dealing with! Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Limewash and whitewash are two techniques used to give brick a light, matte finish, but they differ in composition, application, and permanence. The best choice depends on your aesthetic goals and the specific surface.

Composition

  • Limewash: A natural and environmentally friendly option made from limestone, water, and sometimes pigments. It is breathable and soaks into porous surfaces like brick.

  • Whitewash: Traditionally made from lime, water, chalk, and binders, but a similar look can be achieved with watered-down white paint. It is paint-based and sits on top of the surface.

Appearance and Finish

  • Limewash: Provides a natural, textured appearance that allows the brick's character to show through. It offers a more traditional finish.

  • Whitewash: Creates a softer, more opaque finish, often used for a rustic or shabby-chic style.

Application and Permanence

  • Limewash: Is semi-permanent and can be removed, making it a good choice if you might want to change the look in the future. It requires more skill to apply and cannot be used on previously painted brick.

  • Whitewash: Is a more permanent solution. It is more forgiving to apply and can be used on painted brick. However, because it sits on the surface, it can trap moisture.

Ultimately, if you want a breathable, natural, and reversible finish for unpainted brick, limewash is a great option. If you need a more permanent, opaque coating that can be applied over painted surfaces, whitewash is the better choice. Whitewashing may also be more economical, costing approximately $1.40 to $4.20 per square foot.

Hot, intense sunshine can cause your stain to dry too quickly, which could lead it to look uneven or patchy. If you’re staining the deck during hotter months, it’s best to do it in the morning or evening once the wood has had time to cool down. If you’re staining in cooler weather with less sunshine, the time of day won’t make as much of a difference.

Wood stain does go bad, but it will last in the can for between three and six years, provided you use proper storage techniques. Storing wood stain in open containers or in extremely low or high temperatures will cause your wood stain to become unusable much more quickly. Water- and latex-based wood stains typically last for just two to four years, while oil-based wood stains can last for three to six years.

You’ll want to avoid excessively hot or humid conditions, so it’s best to apply your stain in late spring to early fall. It's also important to watch the weather forecast and aim for days when there isn’t rain expected for at least three days. For new decks, allow the wood to season beforehand for at least four to eight weeks.

The number of coats you need to apply when whitewashing a surface depends on how opaque you want the final product to be. If you're going for a transparent, barely there look, a single coat or two may suffice. For fuller coverage, you'll want to use multiple coats. Another option is to use a less diluted paint to get a thicker coverage.
