"We’ve been at our house for 13 years and in that time have gone through 5 different landscaping companies. Green Life Landscape is our preferred landscaping company, we’ve been using them for about 3 years now and we are very happy with their service. The time and the care Jose and his team provide during each visit is really appreciated. I love getting home from work on landscaping day and seeing the lawn freshly cut and the flowers and shrubs looking on point."

"VENTURA LANDSCAPE AND TREE SERVICE Inc did an outstanding job! The team was professional, punctual, and very knowledgeable from start to finish. They transformed my yard beautifully and paid attention to every detail. The crew worked efficiently, cleaned everything up afterward, and made sure I was completely satisfied with the results. Their pricing was fair, and the quality of work exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for reliable landscaping and tree services. "Came out promptly and gave a good bid. While trying to get another bid a funny thing happened. So. Cal. Edison knocked on our door and said they needed to severely trim or remove two of the trees to keep them from falling on the electric lines. We will call this company back out to remove the other two trees when Edison has completed their work."

"They did an excellent job on seven trees we planted over forty years ago. The Ivy was badly overgrown so removal was difficult. The crew went above and beyond in the clean up process. PTS is very professional and I highly recommend them for any tree service."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Palm trees are unique in that their roots don't grow straight down; they grow horizontally. Typically, palm tree roots go down between 12 and 36 inches deep. The roots grow far and wide from the base of the palm tree to absorb as much water and soil nutrients as possible. In addition, the horizontal roots are also very strong—keeping palm trees stable and helping them sway during storms.

The costs vary from $250 to $5,000 per tree, depending on the size, complexity of the trimming, and labor.

You should avoid cutting off the top of mature cherry trees. This process is called tree topping, and it’s not recommended for cherry trees—or any trees, for that matter. Tree topping removes between one-third to half of the length of the tree trunk, resulting in structurally unsound, fruitless suckers. The only exception is for saplings. Young pie, sour, and tart cherry trees that are over 30 inches tall in the fall or winter before the tree blooms can benefit from heading cuts.

Any cutting of tree roots can hurt or kill a tree, which is why it's recommended you don’t do it unless the roots are damaging or invasive on a nearby structure like your home. You should never cut more than 15 percent of above-ground tree roots at one time. If you have any questions about cutting tree roots, contact your local arborist.

Trimming your palm trees once or twice per year keeps them healthy and robust. Caring for palm trees includes cutting off brown leaves to prevent wildfires and pathway obstruction. However, you don’t want to over-trim the palm tree. Cutting too many branches off will weaken the tree and prevent future growth. And it’s essential to have a strong, healthy palm tree during hurricane season to prevent safety risks or property damage.
