"I had my very large Sycamore and Jacaranda tree cut in front of my house. Arboles Care Tree Service did an amazing job from trimming all the way to cleanup. They were very professional, friendly and quick. Would definitely hire again."

"We’ve been at our house for 13 years and in that time have gone through 5 different landscaping companies. Green Life Landscape is our preferred landscaping company, we’ve been using them for about 3 years now and we are very happy with their service. The time and the care Jose and his team provide during each visit is really appreciated. I love getting home from work on landscaping day and seeing the lawn freshly cut and the flowers and shrubs looking on point."

"Came out promptly and gave a good bid. While trying to get another bid a funny thing happened. So. Cal. Edison knocked on our door and said they needed to severely trim or remove two of the trees to keep them from falling on the electric lines. We will call this company back out to remove the other two trees when Edison has completed their work."

"VENTURA LANDSCAPE AND TREE SERVICE Inc did an outstanding job! The team was professional, punctual, and very knowledgeable from start to finish. They transformed my yard beautifully and paid attention to every detail. The crew worked efficiently, cleaned everything up afterward, and made sure I was completely satisfied with the results. Their pricing was fair, and the quality of work exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for reliable landscaping and tree services. "They were very professional, did a fabulous job and at a reasonable cost. I have used them before to do the Ventura County mandatory fire abatement tree trimming and they did a great job with that too. But this time it was a very large live oak removal due to disease that was determined to be a hazard to our house. From the time of determination and submitting the permit paperwork from an arborist, to removal of a two stemmed trunk --11 days including grinding the huge,two-pronged stump. From review and bidding, to actual removal the team was courteous, prompt and thorough. Can't say enough good about them. BTW, did I mention that they beat out two other bids! Enough said!"

"They did an excellent job on seven trees we planted over forty years ago. The Ivy was badly overgrown so removal was difficult. The crew went above and beyond in the clean up process. PTS is very professional and I highly recommend them for any tree service."

"Price was excellent for job (a gigantic Pepper Tree), crew were very professional yet friendly: they really knew their stuff (even neighbor behind us mentioned how well they knew exactly what to do and how to do it), cleaned up the mess great,"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

You will know that an oak tree needs to be removed when you see vertical cracks or dead branch stubs, which indicate internal decay. Other signs include trunk rot near the base of the tree and sprouts or small branches coming from the trunk.

Some people prefer to leave or even carve a leftover stump, but we recommend removing it if possible. You can often dig out smaller trunks with a shovel once they have died and dried out. You can have stumps professionally removed, or request a service to grind them down to ground level so they can be replaced with other landscaping or objects.

Your neighbor is not in a good position to know if your trees are truly dead or pose any kind of danger. That’s why hiring an arborist or tree service expert can be such an important part of the process. If the trees are still alive and don’t pose any threat, you’re in the clear (but you may want to document and photograph everything in case events turn sour down the road).

But if a tree is visibly dead and near the property line, you should remove it to be safe. If a dead tree falls on a neighbor’s property, they may have grounds to sue for negligence. If any branches on trees have died, it’s a good idea to cut them back for similar reasons.

Coverage varies quite a bit by policy, but most homeowners' insurance policies will cover $500 to $1,000 of the cost of removing a tree. Additionally, if your tree causes damage to your property, like your house, many policies will cover some or all of the costs to repair the damage, depending on why the tree fell.

The best time to cut down a tree is during its dormant season, typically in winter or early spring, after all the leaves have fallen. Removing a tree during this period is advantageous for several reasons. Frozen ground helps secure the tree stump, protects the surrounding landscape from damage, and reduces the risk of the tree falling in an unintended direction. With the leaves gone, there is less risk of the tree's foliage getting tangled with other trees. Additionally, since this is often a slower season for tree services, you may be able to hire a professional at a lower rate. This dormant period is also the best time for tree trimming.
