"My special needs cat got stuck in a 30 ft tree for 2 days, and a search said we should call an arborist to get him. The first couldn't do it but recommended these guys. And they were great. Fast, professional, and friendly, if a little confused at first about what we were asking for. Since this was an oddball request for them. Even this review was hard as, there isn't any service for " helped save our cat". We really can't thank them enough."

"There was evidence of termites when construction began so the builder assumed I would need a full termite service. Hydrex inspected and found termite problem is in the past. Could have easily jacked me up for some kind of service but instead they were honest and did not even charge for the inspection. So grateful!"

His son, Robert B. Loibl, Jr., began working and learning from his father after school and on Saturdays. He later started the Lloyd Pest Control Company in San Diego, and was a partner with his father in L & N Pest Control. He also started the Ant-B-Gone Products Company in Los Angeles, California, and then the Pest Control Service Company and Hydrex Pest Control Co., Inc. in Los Angeles, California in 1946. Robert Jr. spent his life paving the way to say good riddance to pests.
As well as developing a very successful state wide franchise with Hydrex Pest Control, he also held a number of patents. He invented the B-Gone series of pest poisons that many remember, a vermin exterminator, and the Pestron machine for producing insecticidal vapor. He developed many of the methodologies used today. He was committed to keeping where we live, work and play safe and healthy places. He grew his company with men committed to his standards. They are family men, many of whom have p

"We've used them for 5 years. They service all of Orange County in California. They come out every year in November. They show up exactly on time, very prompt. They do the job and they're gone in about 2 1/2 hours. They clean up and they do a great job. Perfect. They are very polite, and very professional. They are all properly licensed and they have everything they need and they jump on my tree and cut and they are done.

"I called after finding 7 wasps inside our house. The gave me an appointment for the next day. The next day I got a call that Steve could come early which was very helpful. He was friendly and explained everything that he would do. He recommended treating the entire house which cost only 35 dollars more. The whole thing took less than an hour. Wasps are gone. I will definitely call him again if I need an exterminator.

Arborists questions, answered by experts

A pro can guide you on the alternatives to tree topping depending on the specific issues within your trees. For example, if you’re dealing with breakage and cracks in your tree, they may suggest canopy reduction, which removes less than 25% of the tree’s limbs. If you’re dealing with lesser damage, some intentional pruning may be all you need. If you’re looking to get a clearer view through your tree, the pro may also try windowing or skirting your tree.

It is possible to cut down a tree on your property yourself, but it is generally not recommended unless specific conditions are met. You should only consider this project if the tree is small (e.g., under 4-5 inches in diameter and short enough that you don't need a ladder to reach the branches), and you are experienced in handling a chainsaw. The tree must also be located far from any power lines, fences, homes, or other structures. Even for small trees, the work can be dangerous, and it's always advisable to have a spotter to ensure the tree falls correctly and no branches fall on you.

For any tree that is large, requires a ladder to access, or is near electrical lines or structures, you should always hire a professional. Attempting to remove a large tree yourself is extremely dangerous, poses a risk of serious injury, and could result in significant damage to your property.

Before any tree removal, it's also important to check your local and state regulations to ensure the tree is not historic or otherwise protected by your city.

You will know that an oak tree needs to be removed when you see vertical cracks or dead branch stubs, which indicate internal decay. Other signs include trunk rot near the base of the tree and sprouts or small branches coming from the trunk.

The ideal time to prune a tree depends on the type of tree. Typically, late winter or early spring is a good time to prune but isn't always the case for "towering trees." It's best to trim when trees are dormant and before blooms appear but can vary depending on the tree type. It's always best to research the type of tree or ask a professional tree trimmer to determine when is the perfect time to prune your tree.

Most plum trees are pruned into a vase or open wine glass shape. They’ll have a shorter central leader (the trunk) that supports three to four main branches. Of course, this isn't always the case. If you have a European plum tree, you can grow it in a pyramid shape. Let the central leader extend the length of the tree and prune smaller branches to create the pyramid.
