After they arrived, we negotiated a price for additional work that we wanted done. The reason I am not giving them 5 stars is because we had planned on paying with our credit card (HLI's business card states that they accept VISA) but were told they only accept credit cards from commercial accounts. Other than the credit card issue, we were very pleased with their work."

Just be sure they park on the street, because some of their large equipment (like the grinders) leak a bit of oil. We just ask them not to park in our driveway and then they toss a piece of cardboard under their trucks in the street in case of an oil drip (nice touch).

"What a professional family-run business! I had 4 trees that needed to be removed (melaleuca, avocado and 2 pine trees). Abel is very friendly and knowledgeable; he spent a lot of time with us giving advice for what trees and shrubs would be good for the backyard. He arrived on-time for the bid, and when we accepted it, he and his hard-working crew were there the very next morning (a Sunday!). The team was great - polite and professional - and with their heavy equipment, they did the job in one day. They left the job site in great condition. "We called California Arborist to diagnose and treat several trees that appeared sickly. Derrick promptly came out. He was extremely knowledgeable. Derrick quickly diagnosed the problem and suggested a treatment plan. We had Derrick treat the trees as suggested. Wow!! The trees almost immediately responded favorably to the treatment. I've spoken to other tree "services" in the past and they invariably recommend to just chop down the tree. What a pleasant change!
