"Got quotes and talked to 3 other roofers. 3rd Generation Roofing gave me the best pricing, great costomer service and followup, and their crew was efficient and clean. I would, and already have, recommended 3rd Generation Roofing to others in need of a new roof. Altogether a good project experience."

"The roofing repairs were done on Friday, 3/31/17. The workmanship was excellent. After removing the tiles, Corey Stratton took pictures of the exposed roof to show us where it leaked and where the water ran down. He and his crew completed the repair in just under two hours with a one year warranty on the work. Corey was very professional and personable. Doing business with K.S. Roofing was a pleasure, and I would highly recommend them."

Small jobs welcome

"Within the first hour of me requesting help for my clay tile roof, they where here and gave me a fair estimate. Mind you it was the 4th of July weekend too. They where going to do the job by the next weekend, but they had a cancelation and was here the next day. And they where done by 10:00 am. Excellent job guys. I would recommend Stronghold Roofing Co. To anyone needing a roof repair or replacement."

"Robert Noy Roofing is awesome!! I spoke to several contractors and Robert was easily the best estimate. He responded right away, was here on time and completed the job in one day. He and his crew were professional diligent and efficient. I genuinely felt he was here to help me rather than to make money He’s a good man with a good heart. He was truly a blessing. Our home was damaged in a fire. He made our roof look new again. CALL this man. Thank you so very much Robert."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

If you choose tile for your roof, take the time to hire a true tile professional. Look at trusted online review sites to find a top-rated roofing contractor. This helps you zero in on great contractors while avoiding ones who bait and switch you with fluctuating bids.

After you’ve narrowed down a few great candidates with reasonable bids, there are some important questions to ask roofers before you hire. Be sure they are licensed, bonded, and insured before signing a contract. Once you find a roofer who checks off all your boxes, you’re ready to get your project started.

Walking on an asbestos roof can pose a risk. Asbestos roofing materials can become brittle over time, increasing the chances of them breaking or releasing fibers when stepped on. Additionally, walking on an asbestos roof without proper precautions can cause further damage to the material. If possible, avoid touching an asbestos roof in any way and consult with a professional about removing and replacing the roof.

It’s possible for a roofing estimate to change after the initial assessment, but in most cases, it shouldn’t. There’s always the risk that something unexpected will happen that causes prices to go up, like discontinued materials or your roofer discovering previously hidden damage to your decking when ripping off the old roof. However, experienced roofers should account for these circumstances in their initial estimates. Roofing contracts are binding, so always check your contract for language about how and why your numbers could change.

The common formula for measuring a roof is length x width equals square footage. Professional roofers measure the length and width of your roof, including dormers, and determine its pitch and rafter sizes. If a roof surface is a triangle, they’ll divide that square footage by two, then add up the square footage of each surface to get the total for the roof.

A roof's lifespan can range from 15 to 200 years, with an average of 25 to 50 years, depending heavily on the material, quality of installation, maintenance, and local climate. Asphalt shingle roofs are common and typically last 15 to 30 years; three-tab shingles have a lifespan of about 20 years, while architectural shingles can last up to 30. More durable materials have longer lifespans: metal roofs last 30 to 100 years, clay and concrete can last 50 to 100 years, and slate roofs can last up to 200 years with proper care. Regular maintenance, such as cleaning gutters and replacing damaged shingles, is crucial for extending the life of any roof.
