Post-dethatching, lawn recovery includes watering, fertilizing, and reseeding as necessary to restore health and promote growth.

Here are some questions you should ask lawn mowing companies before hiring one to service your lawn:

  • How long have you been in business?

  • Are you licensed and fully insured?

  • Do you collect and haul away cut grass or mulch it and leave it behind?

  • Do you provide add-on services other than lawn mowing?

  • Do you plan to use herbicides and pesticides?

  • If I run into an issue with service, what does the resolution process look like?

It is not OK to cut grass after morning dew, as it can cause damage to your lawn, your mower, and you. Wet clumps of grass accumulate after the mow and can kill your grass or cause fungal disease. It’s best to wait until the grass is dry to the touch, usually two hours after morning dew.

Mowing a lawn will, unfortunately, not get rid of clover, and it may even encourage it to flourish. Let your lawn grow to a healthy height of over 3 inches and then set your mower blades no lower than this level. Higher grass will cut out the light that clover loves and discourage it from spreading.
