"I was concerned about something I saw in the house and wanted to rule out termites.  I researched this on Angie's List, and called Hydrex.  Mark arrived promptly, evaluated the area of my concern, and assured my husband and me that what I saw was not from termites and that no further action was needed. Because of the offer on Angie's List, he did not charge us anything for his visit, though I offered to pay something.  If/when we need other pest control services, we will call them."

His son, Robert B. Loibl, Jr., began working and learning from his father after school and on Saturdays. He later started the Lloyd Pest Control Company in San Diego, and was a partner with his father in L & N Pest Control. He also started the Ant-B-Gone Products Company in Los Angeles, California, and then the Pest Control Service Company and Hydrex Pest Control Co., Inc. in Los Angeles, California in 1946. Robert Jr. spent his life paving the way to say good riddance to pests.
As well as developing a very successful state wide franchise with Hydrex Pest Control, he also held a number of patents. He invented the B-Gone series of pest poisons that many remember, a vermin exterminator, and the Pestron machine for producing insecticidal vapor. He developed many of the methodologies used today. He was committed to keeping where we live, work and play safe and healthy places. He grew his company with men committed to his standards. They are family men, many of whom have p

"Our large mulberry tree in the backyard had only been trimmed once in 10 years and that trimming was done wrong with branches growing all over the place with no even shape to the tree. Limbs were hanging over the roof causing potential hazard. The tree needed some serious corrective pruning. It gives great shade to the house in the summer and we wanted to make sure it was pruned correctly and thoroughly this time to make sure it will stay healthy for years to come. The other tree is in the front yard and a large, rotten limb was hanging over the road creating a potential hazard. It also has not had any good pruning in years. We called three members of Angies list for an estimate. Custom tree trimming Design ended up being the most expensive (even after the Angies list discount) but both my husband and I felt that after talking with Bill (the owner) at length, he would be able to do the best job. We were not disappointed. The original estimate was a bit too high for us but we were able to agree on an amount that worked for both of us. On the appointed day he arrived with a big ladder truck, wood chipper and six experienced tree trimmers. He was here to supervise and get them started. They worked tirelessly for about 7 hours. The cut branches were turned into wood chips and he left 3 wheelbarrow full of chips by my request (to use in our yard). I had to leave before they were finished and when I came home the yard and back porch were cleaner than before they started the work. They did a great job cleaning all the branches etc. off the porch, driveway and lawn. It's been a couple of days since they've done the work and every time I look at our now beautifully shaped trees I am happy about our decision to go with Bill's company. My husband also agrees that we got our money's worth. We would definitely use his services again and can recommend him.

"Pine Tree was professionally removed and a stump grinder was used to remove the stump. While grinding, a screen was put up to protect the house from damage. Adrian and his staff were very professional and did a good job cleaning up. Cost was very reasonable."

"Ric is very knowledgeable and even sent us pictures on our cell phones so we could see the progress. He was sweet to our dogs and gave us good instruction on how to take the best care of the new grass. I am happy that we were able to support a long time La Habra business and we'll be calling him back to help with other stages of our landscaping projects.

"Bob is very fair. He replaced the tree and removed the dead tree. I insisted on paying half of the cost of the tree. We argued back and forth and he finally agreed to let me pay half. He is trying to earn a living after all....The tree he replaced is the same type as before and so far it looks great. I have had no problems. I would recommend Bob to anyone looking to do landscape or planting he seems very experienced and informed about his profession. Bob is easy to work with."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Trees aren't big fans of moving, and they do go into shock during a transplant. Although most carefully thought-out tree transplants see the tree recover from the shock just fine, there is always a risk of having an unsuccessful move. Proper preparation, timing, and diligent aftercare are crucial to minimize the risks when transplanting a tree.

If it’s your property, then you can plant a tree near power lines, but it’s not the best idea. Any vegetation that grows within 10 feet or so of power lines will fall under the responsibility of the utility company, and they may trim or remove it as necessary. If you do move forward with your plan, try to choose a smaller ornamental tree, plant it as far away from the power lines as you can, and keep it trimmed to avoid future problems.

Debris removal is often included in the overall cost of having a tree removed from your property. However, tree maintenance service companies do not always include debris removal in their pricing, so ask any contractors offering tree trimming cost estimates whether or not removal is included. If you want to keep the wood mulch, ask if they charge extra for it as well.

The ideal depth of a tree notch depends on the tree, but it should usually be between 20% and 25% of the tree’s depth. However, if the tree is leaning towards the direction of the notch, it can be cut more shallowly—at as little as 10% of the depth. When the tree is leaning away from the direction it needs to be felled, you can cut deeper, closer to 30%.

Trees should be pruned every two to five years, depending on its age and type. Young trees should be inspected and pruned every two to three years. Mature trees should be inspected and trimmed every three to five years, and fruit trees should be pruned annually with a careful eye on seasonal growth. Evergreens typically don’t need pruning, unless branches or limbs are damaged, diseased, or harboring pests.
