"What a professional family-run business! I had 4 trees that needed to be removed (melaleuca, avocado and 2 pine trees). Abel is very friendly and knowledgeable; he spent a lot of time with us giving advice for what trees and shrubs would be good for the backyard. He arrived on-time for the bid, and when we accepted it, he and his hard-working crew were there the very next morning (a Sunday!). The team was great - polite and professional - and with their heavy equipment, they did the job in one day. They left the job site in great condition. I will be hiring Abel and Discount Tree Care Arborist to come back to plant two new trees and some shrubs. Thank you Abel and DTCA!"

"I called 2 straight gardeners and he called back immediately.  He came out within the next day and told me how much he charge for clean up on the yard and how he would charge to do what I wanted done to get the lawn back.  He has just been fabulous.   My lawn has never looked this good ever and I have been very happy.  I found him on Angies List.  He has been in business only for 2 to 4 years but he is well worth it.  I really appreciate all his skills.  He redid the sprinkler system for me.  Many of the sprinklers had to be replaced.  He charged me what might be the labor for them, a little over what each sprinkler had cost and now they work beautifully.  He flushed the system and he found one that was not working and told me that has to be replaced though it was one he had just repaired, he told how much it would be, I wrote out a check and he had it replaced the next day.  He re-seeded it December and I now have a beautiful green grass.  He also sprayed everything before he seeded and killed most of the weeds that were there.  He used a systemic weed killer in the spot and he is on top of it all the time.  I think he has above and beyond his call of duty.  He is really good.  He also trims the roses every 6 weeks which I appreciate very much.  He charges $25 a week for mowing and to edge."

"Best price I could find. They cut down my tree and stub ground it deep for me because I was having a concrete slap layed over it. They did such a great job I hired them to do the same for a tree at my girlfriends house. They did a amazing job for her as well. Both jobs very professional, quick, and the clean up was like there was never a tree there."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Using vinegar to kill tree roots is just one of the clever ways to use vinegar around the house. The method works best when you apply vinegar as directly to the root system as possible. For example, if the old tree roots and stump are currently exposed, drill holes in the tops of the roots and pour undiluted white vinegar into the holes to soak into the plant. Remember that vinegar can kill the surrounding grass and plants should it pour over the edge.

In most ways, palm trees are incredibly low-maintenance. They don’t need a ton of water—which is why they’re so beloved in desert regions—and they basically prune themselves. But they do need an ample supply of sunlight and to be in soil that will allow for proper drainage so that their roots don’t become waterlogged and at risk of developing illnesses.

If the plant begins to wilt, develop spots, or change color, these could all be signs that your palm tree has a disease. But a few basic treatments, like pruning and applying fungicide, will usually be more than enough to return it to perfect health.

If you’re wondering whether you can plant a tree where the stump was removed, know that the soil conditions won’t be ideal, so you should avoid it. The soil beneath the previous tree will likely be depleted of nutrients, plus there may be roots left behind that will seriously hinder the growth of a new tree. Also, if you use salt or other chemical solutions to kill the stump, these can linger in the soil for months or even years and prevent healthy growth. It’s best to choose a different spot that’s at least three feet away for a new tree, or wait at least a year and thoroughly amend the soil before you plant.

Dead tree branches should be removed, because they can cause the tree to lose nutrients. They can also make the tree more susceptible to disease and pests. Removing dead and diseased branches can help the tree recover and increase the odds of saving a dying tree. Make sure to prune the tree correctly to avoid damaging it further.

You should avoid cutting off the top of mature cherry trees. This process is called tree topping, and it’s not recommended for cherry trees—or any trees, for that matter. Tree topping removes between one-third to half of the length of the tree trunk, resulting in structurally unsound, fruitless suckers. The only exception is for saplings. Young pie, sour, and tart cherry trees that are over 30 inches tall in the fall or winter before the tree blooms can benefit from heading cuts.
