"What a professional family-run business! I had 4 trees that needed to be removed (melaleuca, avocado and 2 pine trees). Abel is very friendly and knowledgeable; he spent a lot of time with us giving advice for what trees and shrubs would be good for the backyard. He arrived on-time for the bid, and when we accepted it, he and his hard-working crew were there the very next morning (a Sunday!). The team was great - polite and professional - and with their heavy equipment, they did the job in one day. They left the job site in great condition. I will be hiring Abel and Discount Tree Care Arborist to come back to plant two new trees and some shrubs. Thank you Abel and DTCA!"

"The representatives who organize the inspection and treatment go out of their way to help and are an endless supply of good information.  We were sent a thorough preparation form so we were ready for the treatment.  We thought we had been infected with bedbugs which were confirmed by Hydrex because they had instructed us to get sticky pads/traps from Home Depot to confirm we had that problem.  We were grateful for this because of the expense of treatment; we were assured that our home had been infected.  The exterminator arrived on time at an agreed upon day.  There was only one treatment which successfully eradicated the problem.  Six months later and no reoccurrence.  Hydrex also sent a different inspector to check for termites and determined we did not have termites as the wood shavings and sawdust came from wooden drawers without sliders.  We were very satisfied with this company and would recommend them highly.  We especially appreciated their willingness to work with us as we live in another state from where this home is located.

His son, Robert B. Loibl, Jr., began working and learning from his father after school and on Saturdays. He later started the Lloyd Pest Control Company in San Diego, and was a partner with his father in L & N Pest Control. He also started the Ant-B-Gone Products Company in Los Angeles, California, and then the Pest Control Service Company and Hydrex Pest Control Co., Inc. in Los Angeles, California in 1946. Robert Jr. spent his life paving the way to say good riddance to pests.
As well as developing a very successful state wide franchise with Hydrex Pest Control, he also held a number of patents. He invented the B-Gone series of pest poisons that many remember, a vermin exterminator, and the Pestron machine for producing insecticidal vapor. He developed many of the methodologies used today. He was committed to keeping where we live, work and play safe and healthy places. He grew his company with men committed to his standards. They are family men, many of whom have p

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Stay inside or well away until the storm passes. Don’t go outside to inspect the tree until the weather clears, especially if the tree is on a hill or isolated in a field. Lightning often strikes the same easily-accessed places multiple times, and you could be a new target. If a lightning strike causes a noticeable fire, alert emergency services. When the storm is over, take a closer look to gauge the damage done.

Costs depend on tree height, trunk diameter, removal complexity, and required equipment.

You can use a felling ax to chop down a tree by following the same prep and steps as a chainsaw, but be prepared to use some muscle. For trees bigger than 7 inches in diameter, it can take some time and serious strength to cut down a tree using just an ax.

Unfortunately, if you cut the top off a palm tree, it will die. Instead of budding or branching out, the top begins to slowly rot. That's why having a professional tree trimming at least twice a year is a good idea. If you don’t have experience with trimming your palm tree, you might accidentally cut the top off, leaving a dead and rotting tree in your wake.

Not all leaning trees are dangerous, but they can be a hazard as gravity may eventually cause them to fall. A key factor is whether the lean is new or has been present for a long time. Trees that have grown with a lean for years are not typically an immediate danger, but a sudden lean is a cause for concern as it often indicates weakening roots. If a tree is leaning more than 15% from vertical, you should consider having it straightened or transplanted. To be safe, it's always best to hire a professional arborist to inspect any leaning tree to assess the risk and avoid potential accidents.
