"Ted and his partner were punctual, professional, and helpful. There work was very neat and all their work passed inspection without an issue. Ted was present during the initial inspection and helped me through the process. Ted was personable and answered all my questions and he was willing to help in any way he could. I highly recommend Apollo Electric."

"Responded immediately to our inquiry. Sent their guy, Israel, for inspection. Since the job was not complicated, we had him complete the job. He was very respectful, told us the problem, proceeded to complete the job. I would highly recommend CA Electrical Group."

"My project was that PG&E came out to fix their mistake of land lines dropping to the ground due to a squirrel chewing them. It was not a project I had to pay for. If I had to fix this problem I am sure Wooding Electric would have done a fine job. It was the City of Sunnyvales's job to fix this problem and I told Wooding Electric that and they understood."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

If there’s already a suitable outlet near the range, you likely won’t need an electrician to install an over-the-range microwave. However, if there isn’t an existing outlet or the current one doesn’t meet the microwave’s power needs, you’ll probably need an electrician to install a new outlet.

Yes, a bad switch can cause other outlets not to work. If the switch is part of a circuit that controls multiple outlets, a fault in the switch can disrupt the entire circuit. It can happen if the switch is wired incorrectly, has a loose connection, or is damaged. Fixing or replacing the faulty switch can often restore power to the affected outlets

Three-way switches are only replaceable with three-way switches. A single-pole switch won't work if you replace one or more of a pair of three-way switches. By electrical code, three-way switch configurations are necessary at the top and bottom of a staircase between residential floors.

You can use a double-pole switch for a regular light fixture, but it's unnecessary and won’t be the most efficient choice. A single-pole switch works perfectly for standard lights. Double-pole handle high-power appliances that require both hot wires to be disconnected. Using a single-pole switch for regular lights is more cost-effective, simpler, and more common in residential settings.

Be careful not to drop your voltmeter or multimeter. Even a small fall can affect the tool’s ability to measure with accuracy. Always store your tools in their cases in a cool, dark place. Also, avoid touching the probes to each other while they’re connected to a circuit or another electrical component, and never tamper with anything inside the device.
