"Shamrock is great. We were moving from two smaller homes in order to sell them and then buy a home together. So, we needed to store everything for an unknown period of time before moving it all into our new home. Shamrock came and gave excellent estimates for each home to move everything into storage and how much storage rates would be per month. The estimator was very experienced and was able to give an accurate estimate for the volume, number of movers, and overall cost based on all the factors of the homes (stairs, etc.). The movers came and attached scannable codes to every item and box and moved everything with care and precision. We found the whole company to be very professional, helpful, and nice. Our belongings arrived in the new home safe and in the same condition as when we had packed it. I would definitely hire Shamrock again."

Piano Moving questions, answered by experts

To make sure that your moving quote is fair, check current prices for hiring movers in your area. Your starting and final locations can affect the price. You should also make sure you include the cost of any specialty movers in your price estimate. Calculate your moving costs including the estimated expense of moving services and compare the figure to average costs in your area.

Qualified piano movers will take several steps to protect your piano from damage during the move. First, they'll wrap the piano to protect its finish. Ideally, they'll wrap the piano in a specialized blanket that features a soft, padded interior and a tougher exterior.

After wrapping your piano, the movers will securely strap it to a dolly for safe transport to and from the moving truck. Once the piano is in the truck, movers might put the piano on a piece of plywood to help level it during the move, depending on the truck bed. They will then strap it in place so it doesn't shift around during the drive to your final destination.

The best ways to prepare for movers include decluttering and properly labeling boxes. Decluttering lessens the workload and ensures you are not bringing unwanted items into your new home. Labeling boxes lets movers know which rooms they belong in, reducing confusion when it's time to unpack.

Yes, there are sometimes hidden costs when hiring a moving company. These can include fees for packing, handling, and assembling specific large items, fees for packing materials used, and charges for trips over a certain mileage. To avoid hidden fees, always request a detailed quote before booking or paying a deposit.

When loading a moving truck, the general rule is to load the heaviest and largest items first to create a stable base at the front of the truck, which helps balance the weight. You can start with large furniture like sofas, beds, mattresses, and tables to form a solid foundation, or begin by placing your heaviest boxes against the truck's walls to create a base layer. After the base is set, continue loading other large items like appliances and square furniture. Lighter and smaller objects, including most of your boxes, should be loaded last. They can be packed into gaps, around, and on top of the heavier items to maximize space. Following this order makes unloading easier and helps prevent damage to your belongings.
