"Do not be fooled by the positive reviews. It’s evident they are paying for reviews or having their buddies create fake ones. We had a lackluster experience with Haven Hub. I’m giving them two stars bc the job eventually got done, but I wouldn’t recommend them. Poor communication, project manager changes with no notice, and unprofessionalism made the process frustrating. (I have an endless list of things that went wrong but only 1000 words.) Contractors tried to upsell us under the table for work already in our contract, and the concrete wasn’t poured to spec. Crews didn’t show up for weeks; they left a dirt pile that got us warning from the city. Sprinklers in the park strip were initially promised by the salesman, then left out of his poor drawing. Even when we scheduled a final wrap-up date, they didn’t show. The park strip was never finished, despite many promises to do so. We signed March 5 and didn’t finish until May 29 — nearly three months when it should’ve taken weeks"

"For anyone who is looking for a pool or spa contractor in San Diego, I can't recommend Danny Smith at California Custom Pools highly enough. In the winter of 2023, I hired Danny to remodel the exterior of my pre-existing spa, which was custom-built by another company. It is nearly impossible to find a competent contractor to fix or complete another contractor's job that was done incorrectly or resulted in significant problems, so when Danny and his crew took on the difficult job of remodeling my spa, I knew I was fortunate. My existing spa was surrounded by a wooden deck that was warped and disintegrating, and I had searched for more than a year to find someone to help me with this project. Because I didn't know what the was underneath the deck, it was a challenge for any contractor to bid on this job. Prior to finding Danny, multiple contractors and carpenters quoted me prices between 15-30K given that the possible solutions were contingent upon may unknown factors. However, Danny was able to thoroughly assess the possibilities on location by looking closely at the existing deck and consulting with his crew. He then provided me with several viable options that were within my budget and in less than a month, we agreed on a plan and schedule the demo. In 5 days (including the weekend in-between) the wooden deck was gone and replaced with scored, colored concrete. I was blown away! No delays, no unreturned phone calls, no excuses. Just complete follow-through. And after the job was completed, the crew came back to clean up the rocks and dust from the concrete truck, which I really appreciated. I was finally able to enjoy my spa, which continues to look beautiful, blends with my entire backyard, and is easy to maintain. Overall, I highly recommend Danny Smith with California Custom Pools. who is professional, great to work with, honest, and dependable. His tile/cement crew are skilled in their craft, always arrived on time, and consistently walked me through the process while answering my questions.
