ARMANDS Discount FIREPLACE & BBQ

I didn't use them for purchase or install due to retail pricing and lack of knowledge regarding fireplace glass.

We had purchased a propane gas BBQ from Sears (the only kind they sold in the model we wanted), but wanted it converted to natural gas.  After several false starts with the gas company and our plumber, we found Armands.  The person they sent was prompt and completely knowledgeable.  He did a perfect job.  From the person we talked to on the phone at Armands (Dylan) to the person who did the job (Victor), we were extremely impressed and completely satisfied!

Wanted to write this review to say that Tony was great to work with.   He was a solid salesman that knows his product.  He was able to provide a competitive price for the product.   He also helped me throughout the installation of the fireplace.   Great stuff Tony!

I thought I was going to have to replace my grill.  They removed it, powerwashed it, cleaned out all of the gas plugs, replaced the grates and briquets and polished it like new.  I should get another few years out of the BBQ ieasily.

it failed twice in the first couple weeks.  I had to be very persistent to get it fixed before Christmas.  the second installer said the first one hadn't done it correctly. 
the unit has worked flawlessly since the 2nd installation.

It went very well. I was very satisfied and I have recommended them to other people. I went by the store and they were well equipped. They sent a guy out and they fabricated the part. I thought that they did a good job at a reasonable price. They were knowledgeable and knew exactly what to do. He offered good advice and did not try to over sell. That made me happy. I have followed all of their recommendations. Everything is good. It was a fair price for the work and time that they put into it. I would use them again.

The gentleman was very knowledgeable and professional.  He provided a complete assessment of the system, explained the steps necessary to use and maintain the stove.  His quote was very fair and I will have him complete the work in the future.

After some initial confusion about the time of my appointment, the service tech came out to our house, checked out the propane grill, and diagnosed the problem as a broken ignite switch. They were able to fix the problem, and ended up rewiring part of it so that we wouldn't have to buy a new part. The grill works well, and they did an efficient, great job.

I went to Armand's as a previous customer.  I purchased my BBQ from them a few years back & was happy with the selection & service. I had decided to convert my wood burning fireplace to gas due to environmental concerns and mess!

Armand's didn't have a huge selection of gas logs in the store, but rather than choose one from a catalog, sight unseen, I decided to choose from one that they had on display.  I was told that I would need to measure the inside dimensions of the fireplace before I could order.  I went home & measured, phoned them, gave them a credit card number, & made an appointment for the installation in one week.  They actually could have installed sooner, but I wanted to wait until my next day off from work.

I made the appointment for an exact hour rather than a 4 hour window which I was thrilled about!  The installer, Patrick, arrived right on time with everything he needed to complete the job.  He was very friendly & knowledgeable. I was told when I made the appointment that it would take 1 1/2-2 hours.  Patrick had it completed in a half hour!  I guess my existing gas line was very accommodating!  He showed me how the log worked and how to increase or decrease embers myself for effect with the bags of embers provided.  He hauled away all packaging & my old fire grate.

Since this was just installed today, I haven't used it with the exception of the demo, but I look forward to having it on this evening. I found the in-store sales staff to be present, but not especially friendly.  Very to the point, but I got what I came in for.

WOW!  I've lived with a non-functioning fireplace for 30 years.  Now I have a beautiful direct vent fireplace and it's already warming up the house!
The salesman at Armands wasn't pushy at all and showed me a few different fireplaces that would work in my particular space.  They were already very familiar with my condo because they've already installed many here in my complex.
After choosing it and explaining the different ways of installation, I bit the bullet.
Tom, the installer came out soon after I bought it and in a few hours my old fireplace was gone and the new one was in place and working.  It looks like it's been there forever and there wasn't any mess left for me to deal with.
I'm quite pleased with the service and product I got at Armand's Discount.  Wish I needed more fireplaces it was so easy.
They also sell barbecues and now I'm really thinking I'll get one of those as well.

The service was excellent. They had a really good salesman that helped me. The pricing was very competetive, and they took a lot of time with me. It was a good positive experience. They recommended me someone for the insallation that was a great positive experience.

It was a fast and efficient process.  The appointment was easy to arrange, the technician showed up, did an efficient, thorough job, made sure the grill worked properly, and it was all done in less than an hour.  Grill works great.

I was very impressed and happy with the work that was done by Armand's and by the tech! He was prompt and very friendly and he got right to work and finished in a short amount of time. I think that this company is really great and a good asset to have on Angie's List. I highly recommend them to anyone who needs help with their gas grill.

Even though this service took place long ago, I find that the bad advice I got from Armand's continues to haunt me. In 2003, I had one of the partners from Armand's come to my property to speciify some heating stoves He suggested a Vermont Castings stove with a 21000 BTU capacity that he claimed would heat both 1300 sq. foot apartments in my duplex. I bought two and had them installed in the living rooms by one of Armand's subs. One winter later, it was painfully apparent that the stove I was sold was under-spec'd and did not have enough btu's to heat my home. When I asked the owners at Armand's why the previous stoves had been specified, I never got a straight answer. Nonetheless, I bought 2 more Vermont Castings stoves and installed in both apartments in the back bedrooms by Armand's recommended subcontracted installer. Since that time, I have learned that at least 2 of the 4 installations were done poorly enough to have created a carbon monoxide venting problem. When I brought this to Armand's attention, they would not stand behind their recommended installer and would not help me fix the problem. Most recently, I have had one of the stoves stop working and have had the problem diagnosed with 2 other fireplace technicians (not from Armand's) who told me that I would need replacement parts, that if available, would run $1000. It seems that Vermont Castings does not make this stove anymore and does not support their line by making parts available for discontinued stoves. I called Armand's, and asked why I had been sold 4 stoves from a line that does not support their product by making spare parts available, and got the same shrug of the shoulders that I have always received from this vendor. I would suggest this vendor might be okay for 1 time purchases, but do not buy anything that you expect to last a while or that you want to have serviced by them. I have been failed on every level by this vendor, and unfortunately, 7 years later, I am still paying for it. As parts are not available for these units, I will eventually need to completely replace them for at a cost of about $ 12000 -$15000 for all 4.

This went very well. This company is honest and fair about their prices, and the repair person took the time to teach me how the units (we have three firepalces) function, so that we would not have to pay for them to come out again just to teach us how to use them. I called the only company located in the south bay of Los Angeles; four years ago they sent someone to help me, but this person was not very patient nor clear with his explanations. I called them back again, and for the fist visit they wanted triple what Armand's did. Fireplaces were serviced, new knobs were provided and we learned how the old gas fire plaes function for what the other company wanted just to come out and look, but wanted three times as much $$$$$. I highly recommend them for anything they say that they can do.

Went to Armand's on a Saturday morning. Karrel helped me. He really knew his gas logs. Took his time and explained the difference between each. Also helped me understand the installation process. Karrel also answered two follow up calls I had. Very happy with the sales experience. Not as happy as I was with the installation process. Josh showed up on time. Took his shoes off and placed a blanket down. Super neat. Josh had to handle a few extra issues that came up. He went above and beyond. The five burner log looks great and is a wonderful addition to my living room. Definitely will goback to Armand's when I look for my patio gas heater. They understand what great service means.

Prompt service.

They were willing to talk with me and provide me with information over the phone. The web site was extremely helpful. We made the trip from the San Fernando Valley to the West Los Angeles area, because of all of the information on Angie?s List and their web site. The trip took us a full hour. I have been looking into this for the past several years and they product was top quality which made it worth the trip. The installer was prompt and he was good at his job. He did a good job with the installation with minimal fuss.

The workers at Armand's did a great job with my fireplace. They were excellent. They cleaned up after themselves and everything looked really nice afterwards.

I purchased gas logs, and they were delivered and installed two days later. The installation took about 30 minutes. They gave good service.

With the exception of the price for their service call ($85.00) and the fact that it took almost two weeks to get them out to look at the grill, their overall service was great. They were on-time and professional. They even called before the appointment to warn us that our equipment was very old and there were no parts so if they needed parts they would be unable to repair the grill and we would be stuck with the service call. I thought that was very professional.

We were very pleased with the whole experience at Armands. There was a wide variety of gas logs on display despite the fact that we were looking in the spring. Our sales person Caesar was knowledgeable about each of the various styles and didn't steer us toward the most expensive choice, but rather the best one for us. We would certainly shop here again.

RICK THE SERVICEMAN WAS ON TIME AND TOOK 1/2 HOUR FOR THE JOB. HE WAS FAST AND EFFICIENT. FIRED UP THE BBQ TO BE SURE ALL WAS WORKING OK.
