"They were honest, courteous, and never tried to upsell me on anything. Their price was incredibly reasonable—about four times lower than some of the other estimates I received. These days, with tools like ChatGPT, it's easier to do a little research beforehand, get a general idea of what might be wrong, and understand the typical cost range. Hopefully that makes it harder for companies to overcharge customers. I've unfortunately had some bad experiences in the past with HVAC companies. One technician even told me that the company has a base price and I think they don't get paid except for what they can charge over the base. So lets say something costs $200 but they don't get paid except from what they can charge over the 200 so they wanted to charge me 500 so it makes it worth it for both of the techs that came over! This company felt refreshingly different. They focused on fixing the problem at a fair price, and I really appreciated their honesty and professionalism"

"This review is about Air Duct Professionals and I want you to know that I finally found a company that was honest and professional. Because when I was at the end of my wits trying to figure out who was telling me the truth, I called Ed Mack the owner and he was reassuring that my home was not that old to be having all these problems. He referred me to a website for the Air Duct Cleaners Association and read about what air duct cleaning really does. So I had Air Duct Professionals come out to the inspection and they have an actual HVAC guy on their staff. Immediately looking at how new and well maintained our air system was in the attic, he told us those other companies were trying to scam us. Air Duct Professionals did a great job cleaning out all of our air ducts and dryer vent and cleaning up after themselves. I whole-heartedly recommend this company for their professional work and honesty."

"Worked with Tim - was looking for new HVAC system. He was honest and provided the best price for what you got (literally thousands of dollars cheaper from other options I was finding). Was very communicative and easy to work with. He made sure to educate you on the ins-and-outs of HVAC systems, and did not try to upsell you like other companies might do. He and Efficiency Air definitely got me as a new continued client."

"We had Temp Air install our AC unit. The best decision we ever made. They were fast, reliable and dependable. Excellent customer service, did a phenomenal job. After a couple of years something was going on with our unit, I called them and immediately they send out a technician Juan, who was phenomenal. He explained what the issue was and resolved it asap! Highly recommend this company!"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Most HVAC service calls include diagnostic fees, which could include checking on a specific issue you’re experiencing or running through a routine inspection checklist. If you called for a particular problem, the service call will also include an estimate to fix the issue, including materials and labor. Depending on your HVAC technician and the service you requested, you might also get a general inspection of your system components to ensure everything is working as intended.

No, you should not attempt to replace an AC evaporator coil yourself. This is a complex task that must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician. The process involves handling hazardous and flammable refrigerants, which poses significant safety risks. Attempting a DIY replacement can also cause further damage to your HVAC system and will likely void its warranty. It is necessary to hire a local AC repair professional for this job.

Yes, it’s important to turn off your AC sometimes to give it a break and prevent it from freezing up. If your AC runs all the time, your system’s parts will wear down quicker, which may mean that you need to replace it sooner. Plus, using your AC constantly uses more electricity and leads to higher energy bills.

While both have advantages, a split system is generally cheaper than a ducted one. Because they are less invasive to install, the labor costs are lower, and they can be more energy efficient. But, a ducted system might be worth the investment if you run it more frequently.

Set your house temperature between 55 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit while on vacation, depending on the season. If it’s winter, don’t go below 55 degrees. In the summer, the best AC temperature for energy savings is no higher than 85 degrees. You can save anywhere from 10% to 15% on your energy costs by adjusting the temperature while you’re away. If you have a smart thermostat, set up vacation modes for each season. On your way home, turn off vacation mode to allow the home to warm up or cool down before you arrive.
