"Manny and his team at CM Tile did an outstanding job installing porcelain ceramic tile flooring in our new home in Yucaipa! The first thing people notice and comment on when they enter our home are the floors. The quality and workmanship are superior and we couldn't be happier! We had a plan but changed/added some things last minute, and Manny was so professional and happy to go with the flow of our changes without any issues. He started and finished per schedule and was always available to speak with any time we had questions. We even had a security issue with someone potentially creeping around our home after hours, (turned out to be a false alarm), but Manny, who was closer to our home than we were, dropped everything and met with the police to investigate. He and his crew went above and beyond! We would confidently recommend CM Tile toThanks for being so awesome, Manny! You're welcome to come by for a beer anytime! Chuck & Karrie"

"I am not experienced at hiring a contractor. Chris answered all my question. I viewed water proofing techniques on the internet. I educated myself. The installer of my shower door commented on how well everything lined up doing the installation. So if you are looking for a tile contractor Chris is your guy. I wanted to give a special shout out to Chrisâ s helper Isaac for his work and craftsmanship."

"We had old Mexican tile in the garage that needed cleaning and restoring.  We also had a shower which needed recaulking and sealing.  The company did a good job with the tile restoration and we were pleased.  The shower drain unfortunately got clogged with the old caulk.  Kris rectified the situation to our satisfaction."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

The best trowel for penny tile is a 3/16-inch-by-5/32-inch V-notch trowel. Because of the small size of the penny tile, you want a trowel with small notches that can lay a thin layer of mortar on the surface you’re tiling. If the notches are too wide, you risk applying too thick of a layer of mortar, and it can squeeze out between the penny tiles.

Yes. You can tile over tile if the old tile is in good shape, but this will also create a thicker floor. As a result, you may have to remove and readjust baseboards and other room trimmings and potentially even raise door heights to work with the higher floors. In most projects, it’s best to remove the old tile before installing a new tile floor.

If you hire a professional to lay tile, you can expect to pay $3 to $15 per square foot for labor. For a 100-square-foot tiling project, that would equal $30 to $150 in labor. These costs may increase if you need extra services (such as tile removal, wall repair, or waterproofing). For example, tile removal costs an additional $2 to $7 per square foot.

No, tiling over painted walls or wallpapered surfaces is generally not recommended. Textured surfaces and paints will affect the adhesive, possibly causing tiles to lift or fall off. Painted walls with a semi-gloss or high-gloss finish are particularly difficult for adding tiles. It’s wise to strip the paint first if you install the tiles to drywall, although it’s still best to opt for a cement backer board.

You can attach tiles to a wall using thin-set mortar. You’ll also need a notched trowel to create grooves within the adhesive so it flattens completely when pressed in and securely holds the wall tiles. Finally, you’ll need grout to smooth the gaps between the tiles and, ideally, a grout sealer to prevent mold. While it sounds simple enough, proper planning and execution are crucial, so carefully review the steps in this guide or hire a pro tile installer to complete this project.
