Customers say: Quality work

"I needed a front door leaded-glass window repaired. I got a quote from another company for over DOUBLE what Raul quoted, and with a 4 week turnaround (Raul quoted 10 days and successfully completed the job in that time). He was timely, responsive, and did excellent work. He even added a new crossbar as well as a new border which wasn't included in the original quote. He did so at no extra cost, but I chose to pay him because I very much appreciated both that gesture and his honest approach. I was very pleased all around."

"I needed a new sliding glass door and screen for my patio, so I contacted three companies for estimates. I was especially impressed with the professionalism and helpfulness of Frank Gonzales from Brothers Home Improvement, Inc., in addition to his total cost estimate for the job. Additonally, of the three companies I contacted, only Brothers could provide the installation of a deadbolt for the sliding door like I wanted. Frank was knowledgeable and helpful and did not pressure me for a decision at once like the other companies' representatives did. Everyone from Brothers--from Frank, the salesman, to Steve who measured the job, to Steve and Ziggy who installed the door/screen--was prompt, professional and delightfully courteous. The job was installed and completed earlier than expected, which also pleased me.  I can highly recommend the whole staff at Brothers Home Improvement!

"Hector from Quality Glass OC was amazing in creating a solution for my unusual neo angle shower enclosure. I called numerous glass companies and none of them were able to come up with a solution. I’m so grateful to Quality Glass OC for their expertise and professionalism. The shower looks wonderful and I would highly recommend them to any of my friends and family."

Glaziers questions, answered by experts

Installing glass block windows has benefits and disadvantages, as with most materials. The pros and cons can vary depending on the type of glass block and the window location.

Pros

  • Maintains privacy while letting light into the bathroom

  • Energy efficient

  • Sealed to prevent drafts

  • Aesthetically pleasing

  • Strong and secure

Cons

  • Costly to install

  • Challenging installation

  • Challenging repair

Black spots on the bottom or along the edge of your bathroom mirror are caused by oxidation behind the mirror glass. When moisture and air are trapped between the glass and the backing, they react and cause discoloration. This is sometimes referred to as “mirror rot.” You’ll need to separate the glass and the backing to fully remove it.

Standard mirrors come in many different shapes, sizes, and thicknesses, so you can often find a great fit for your space without adding customizations. Custom mirrors are ideal if your space has very specific constraints. For instance, you may need a much longer or wider mirror than you can find in a standard mirror. You might also want a custom mirror if you have particular styling preferences, such as a frame with a specific finish or a unique edge.

While finding your mirror cracked can be spooky, there are actually many logical and common reasons why this happens. First, the mirror may have been mounted unevenly in the first place. Over time, poor mounting leads to stress points that will eventually cause a mirror to crack. Other common causes of a mirror spontaneously cracking include dramatic temperature shifts, strong thunder or a loud crash somewhere in the distance, exposure to heat and sunlight, and an uneven wall in your home. It's also possible that your mirror had a manufacturing defect or microscopic cracks that occurred during glass cutting or handling that eventually caused it to shatter.

Generally, large bathroom mirrors that have been secured to the wall with glue require a multistep removal process. By taping the mirror with masking tape or duct tape, you can potentially prevent dangerous shards from falling as you loosen the mirror. A heat gun or other heat source may be needed to loosen up the glue before it can be freed using a wire saw. With glued-down mirrors being the most dangerous to remove, it's wise to hire a professional instead of handling glass on your own.
