Guardian Roofs Energy Solutions

I was looking into replacing my 20+ yrs tile roof to the Tesla solar roof but after months of waiting (I pre-ordered the solar roof and it was stuck at the design phase), Tesla told me that they no longer serve my area and refunded me the money. As I was looking for an alternative, I came across GAF's solar shingles and I was very interested in them. Guardian Roofs is GAF's certified installer in SoCal area. Larry from Guardian Roofs reached out to me within a day after I filled out the "Request for a Quote" form on GAF's website. Told me about their company and we chatted about my needs for the new roof and solar system. Within the next few days, he sent me a proposal, explained every single detail to me carefully and patiently answered all of my questions and concerns. He truly enjoy working with Larry because he would find out the answers for any questions he wasn't able to answer on the call and actually called me back and explained them to me thoroughly. I called/emailed six roofing companies/contractors, only four responded within the first week with a quote. The quote from Guardian Roofs was the second lowest (cheaper than Tesla's solar roof). The other three quotes were traditional solar panels and reroof using the existing tiles. I quickly decided to go Guardian Roof's quote not only it's much cheaper than Tesla's solar roof, but their panels also looked much nicer than the traditional ones. My only concern was that without the space between the rack and roof, how would the heat generated by the panels being released? I asked Larry this question and he explained to me but I didn't quite understand, so I asked the owner, Justin, the same question during the installation and he explained to me by showing me the actual products. Turned out the combination of the underlaying sheet, GAF's Timberline Shingles and the actual panels were playing a big part in handling the heat. The installation took a week to complete. I'm very pleased that the owner himself actually came out a couple of days and climbed on the roof to make sure everything was done correctly. He was also there to answer all of my questions about the job. Additionally, GAF sent a technician from the San Jose headquarter to oversee the installation of the panels. Not the mention William (the lead installer from Guardian Roofs) and his crew did a great job cleaning up the area after the job was completed.

The communication between individuals in the company is poor. One person told me they would be at the work site a 8:00 AM. No one showed so I called and was told they couldn't come until noon. Then the roof crew showed at 11 AM. Very confusing and frustrating.

Very easy to work with. Great visual demostration of how all the layers of the roof go on. Dan explained everything very well. Installed a cool roof, and can already tell the difference . Temperature upstairs is not as hot and the garage is staying cooler as well. Looking forward in saving on my electric bill, because we won't have to turn on the air as much.

Nice work

The guys that did the work were very friendly and did the work in the rain so we didn't get anymore damage inside. They were very fast and fixed it right. They explained what was causing the leak and told us to call anytime if there was a problem and they would get right here to fix it.

I think all roofers charge too much for their service, but they were less expensive than others I checked and did an excellent job.

The company scheduled a rep to examine my roof the same day I contacted HomeAdvisor. This rep, Dave Todd, quoted only $750 to make extensive repairs, This is a mere fraction of what I was charged previously by other companies in years past for the equivalent amount of work. In just a few days the courteous workers arrived and completed all the work in one day. I cannot praise this company enough.

The people were very nice, but they ordered the wrong vent stacks for the roof, and subsequently it pushed the installation back by several days. Also, the installer who came to lay the roof didn't speak English well, and communication was therefore hard at times. Otherwise, everything was just fine.

Called Guardian Roofs and Dan Hill got me a quote without even having to come to the house (using Google Earth). He then came to my house to confirm the quote. Actually, reduce my quote by $100 when he came out. Roofing people are notoriously unreliable--but--he said the job would start on Monday morning between 11am and 1pm--and it DID start about noon. He also told me the job would be done by Thursday--but it looks like it will be completed today (Wednesday). The crew also seemed to do a pretty good job of clean up of debris from my yard and garage. (Hopefully, they got all the nails). It looks nice from the ground.

Dan arrived promptly as promised, he gave a comprehensive presentation on what needed to be done and offered various solutions for our roof. The crew arrived on time were very polite, they cleaned up daily never leaving a mess very high quality job no problems, they were not the cheapest but offered the the best bang for the dollar would not hesitate to recommend them, you can be sure a professional job will be done.m
