"The move couldn't have gone better. Communication was excellent, and the timing of the move went exactly as expected. The gentlemen who performed the move were friendly, professional, and very careful. Their experience was very evident. I would definitely hire Affordable Piano Movers again, should the need to move my piano comes up. A+++++"

"The three movers who came to work with us arrived on time and were very nice gentlemen. It took about half an hour to take the piano out of the apartment and load it in the truck.  When they finished moving I checked everything and it was absolutely without any scratches or something. Super nice and reliable service."

"These guys are very efficient, careful, and professional which are skills you want when moving a treasured piano. This is our 2nd time using them and we hired them back because they did such a great job the first time. On top of having all the equipment and proper wrappings/blankets and care they went above and beyond. They recommended a piano tuner who did a great job and this move we had to move the piano temporarily to their storage facility which is another service they provide. When we move the piano out of storage we will definitely hire them back AGAIN to that next move. I can see why they have a 5 star review and want to chime in to affirm that based on my own experience."

"I've moved around the country a number of times, and I have to say, these were the best movers I've encountered! I didn't read Angieslist for those past moves, and that was clearly my mistake. These guys showed up on time and delivered on budget. And then they did more. I had already disassembled some items and packed them up before they arrived. Fast forward to hours later when they delivered the items, they actually assembled the items for me! (I also had a grand piano, and Precision brought in four movers to get the done job right and safely. Other movers said they could do it with three people.)"

"This past summer my wife and I made the difficult decision to list our Mission Viejo, CA home we had lived in for nearly nine years. We were pulling up roots and relocating to Cedar City, UT. Our four kids would be obliged to start over in brand-new schools and make all new friends. We felt great anxiety and stress. No sooner had we gone into escrow than we began being inundated with postcards from moving companies all touting their services and claiming to be awesome. We had never done a move before that a few buddies and a simple U-Haul couldn't handle. An interstate move with a 26-foot truck chock-full of a decade's worth of stuff was unprecedented for us. So I began sifting through these postcards, making calls, and checking online reviews. As you might expect, many of these companies weren't quite so awesome after all. Recurring themes in the reviews were final price being very different from quoted price, need to pay upfront (with cash or cashier's check at that), stuff getting damaged, stuff not arriving at all, stuff being held hostage on truck till higher price paid, workers being jerks, bullies, no recourse through manager or customer service after the fact, etc. Yikes. What an industry. And what an experience I wanted to avoid if at all possible. Moving is stressful enough as it is. The final postcard I called on was WeMoveU. The owner Brian and operations manager Jared told me the company had only been around a few months, and they were trying to build a good reputation through honesty, transparency, consistently excellent work, etc., in order to generate positive reviews, referrals, and good word of mouth. What a concept. I checked online and saw only glowing reviews. So I decided to go with WeMoveU, and they turned out to be an outstanding choice. I only had three requirements: 1) Don't vary from the price you quoted me. They didn't. Theirs wasn't the lowest bid but it seemed reasonable and realistic. I did not want a bait-and-switch. They told me I was receiving a binding estimateâ meaning it can't change. And they stayed true to that. 2) Load up the truck on Friday in Mission Viejo, CA, and unload the truck the next morning in Cedar City, UT. They did. With bells on. And with strength and efficiency that left me in awe. 3) Don't mess up the piano. They didn't. And I paid them only after everything was unloaded and sitting in our new house. And they even set up our beds and hooked up our washer and dryer. I cannot thank them enough for the wonderful job they did and for giving us one less thing to worry about during this uneasy period. I wholeheartedly recommend WeMoveU to anyone planning a move. A word on tipping professional movers. I was very uninitiated when it came to hiring a professional moving company so I mention this if it's helpful. Like tipping a waiter at a restaurant, it is apparently quite customary in the moving industry to tip workers who load and unload trucks. Not doing so is considered a major faux pas. (Maybe I should have known this but I didn't.) Regardless, I learned that a rule of thumb might be something like $10 per hour per mover. So if there are four movers loading and it takes them four hours, that's about $40 you should be prepared to pay out, to each one, before the truck leaves. Cash or Venmo. And if there are four movers unloading (even if they are the same people) and it takes them another three hours at the back end, that's another roughly $30 per person you should be doling out. So an additional $280 (in this hypothetical example) on top of the quote for the move. Just something to keep in mind so you're not caught off guard (like I was)."

"

I was extremely pleased with the service.  The reason I chose this mover was because they specified that they would do small jobs.  They have a 4 hour minimum, but said that would probably be able to do the initial move in two hours and the second part of the move in the remaining two hours, and charge me the $200 for 4 hours.  However, the second half of the move took slightly longer, due to the need to apply felt pads to all my furniture and more carefully place it on the new hardwood floor.  These movers took amazing care, setting up a "staging area" at the top of the stairs where thick moving pads were put on the floor. Each piece of furniture was placed there and the felt pads were put on before the furniture was moved into place.  I had purchased felt pads in advance, but when we ran out, they had some in their truck and provided them free of charge.  So the additional $50 charge was for the extra hour it took to do this very careful move, and well worth it.  There was no damage at all to the new floor.

The movers were very professional and the owner Mike is very eager to please his customers.  He called to follow-up with me and see if I was completely satisfied.  There were two small issues.  I have three floor and it is extremely difficult to move large furniture up and down the three flights of stairs, so slight problems always occur.  In this case, the corner of my couch was dirtied in the move, however, Mike said I should call a professional upholstery cleaner and he would pay for any costs.  Turned out I was able to clean it myself, so all was well.  We also had some confusion over the time of arrival on the final moving day, but when they arrived, they did a superb job.

I would definitely use this moving company again.

"WE MOVE U staff did a GREAT JOB helping us with our move from beginning to end! Jonathan Trenkle, in Sales was very thorough in discussing the various details of our move and how he would estimate the fee, he communicated clearly the details and his estimate was pretty close to the final fee, no unexpected additions. Jared, the Lead Mover was very knowledgeable and communicated clearly all the steps and details they would take to protect and move our items. He and co-workers Frankie and Febo were methodical, accurate and professional, friendly, and worked well together as a team. They even brought us a morning treat! I would use them again, and recommend them to others!"

Piano Moving questions, answered by experts

The first step to choosing a relocation company is determining the distance of your move, types of services needed, and how many professional movers you need to hire. Once you set the parameter of your move, get price quotes from at least three local moving companies to compare pricing. Then, choose a relocation company that fits within your budget, supplies the necessary services, and has positive reviews from previous moving customers.

Depending on the type of expense, it is possible to deduct moving costs on your taxes. For example, you can deduct for packing, crating, insurance, in-transit storage, and using a trailer. However, you cannot deduct expenses such as moving furniture, security deposits, and home buying and selling expenses.

The most expensive part of moving is hiring professional movers. However, hiring a pro is more efficient and less stressful, so many people find the cost worth it. You’ll also spend a lot of money on packing supplies, including boxes, tape, and bubble wrap, so ask around to see if any friends or family members have old supplies you can use for free.

It’s rare to rent moving straps alone. Typically, you buy them outright. However, if you rent moving equipment, like loading tools or a furniture dolly, from a local or big-box business, they may come with moving straps for you to use.

Unfortunately, moving scammers exist, so it’s important to thoroughly vet your moving company before scheduling a service date. Your moving company is likely legitimate if the offer fits within the average cost range, they provide proper contracts and moving insurance, don’t require a large deposit, and have several positive and recent online reviews from previous customers. Feel free to request previous customer information from the moving service and contact them to inquire about their experience to ease any lingering concerns.
