"The three movers who came to work with us arrived on time and were very nice gentlemen. It took about half an hour to take the piano out of the apartment and load it in the truck. When they finished moving I checked everything and it was absolutely without any scratches or something. Super nice and reliable service."

"I've moved around the country a number of times, and I have to say, these were the best movers I've encountered! I didn't read Angieslist for those past moves, and that was clearly my mistake. These guys showed up on time and delivered on budget. And then they did more. I had already disassembled some items and packed them up before they arrived. Fast forward to hours later when they delivered the items, they actually assembled the items for me! (I also had a grand piano, and Precision brought in four movers to get the done job right and safely. Other movers said they could do it with three people.)"

"Everything went great on the day of the move. Our 2 movers were very friendly and took great care with our items. They had knowledge of how to do everything quick and safe. The only hiccup was the original date had to be changed because of an equipment failure on their part. Brian was honest and kept communicating with me the whole time, which I greatly appreciated. I would definetly recommend this company to move you!"

"I was extremely pleased with the service. The reason I chose this mover was because they specified that they would do small jobs. They have a 4 hour minimum, but said that would probably be able to do the initial move in two hours and the second part of the move in the remaining two hours, and charge me the $200 for 4 hours. However, the second half of the move took slightly longer, due to the need to apply felt pads to all my furniture and more carefully place it on the new hardwood floor. These movers took amazing care, setting up a "staging area" at the top of the stairs where thick moving pads were put on the floor. Each piece of furniture was placed there and the felt pads were put on before the furniture was moved into place. I had purchased felt pads in advance, but when we ran out, they had some in their truck and provided them free of charge. So the additional $50 charge was for the extra hour it took to do this very careful move, and well worth it. There was no damage at all to the new floor.
The movers were very professional and the owner Mike is very eager to please his customers. He called to follow-up with me and see if I was completely satisfied. There were two small issues. I have three floor and it is extremely difficult to move large furniture up and down the three flights of stairs, so slight problems always occur. In this case, the corner of my couch was dirtied in the move, however, Mike said I should call a professional upholstery cleaner and he would pay for any costs. Turned out I was able to clean it myself, so all was well. We also had some confusion over the time of arrival on the final moving day, but when they arrived, they did a superb job.
I would definitely use this moving company again.

"One of the movers requested that I pay him off the books. The price he quoted was actually more than what was quoted by the company. Also, it was a big move. Several of my items were missing."

"WE MOVE U staff did a GREAT JOB helping us with our move from beginning to end! Jonathan Trenkle, in Sales was very thorough in discussing the various details of our move and how he would estimate the fee, he communicated clearly the details and his estimate was pretty close to the final fee, no unexpected additions. Jared, the Lead Mover was very knowledgeable and communicated clearly all the steps and details they would take to protect and move our items. He and co-workers Frankie and Febo were methodical, accurate and professional, friendly, and worked well together as a team. They even brought us a morning treat! I would use them again, and recommend them to others!"

Before your piano movers arrive, it’s a good idea to prep the piano for its journey to avoid damage, as well as clear a path to make the move as easy as possible. You can start by using bubble wrap and moving blankets to protect the keys, lids, and pedals. Drape moving blankets over the piano and secure them, if possible, to protect the surface from damage. Next, clear furniture and other obstructions out of the path from the piano to the door. It’s also wise to maintain a close spot for the moving truck to park out front.
Yes, it is absolutely worth it to hire piano movers. Pianos are heavy and bulky, which makes them very challenging to move safely and without causing damage to the piano and your home. Hiring piano movers is especially worthwhile if you need to move the instrument up or down staircases, as that can put you and your helpers at risk of serious injury. Overall, the price you’ll pay to hire a professional piano mover pales in comparison to the damage you could do to your piano or your home if you attempt the move yourself.
It is not necessary to tip piano movers, and workers from reputable companies generally won’t expect tips. However, if you’re pleased with the service and the movers are friendly and respectful, tipping can show your appreciation for how well the crew cared for what is likely a very expensive instrument. Tipping between $20 and $40 per mover is about average.
It is certainly possible to move a piano without hiring movers, but it’s not recommended. Not only will you need at least four people to lift and maneuver the piano, but getting it around tight corners and down flights of stairs might not be possible without the help of movers. Plus, pianos are exceptionally heavy and bulky, which means you and any helping hands are at risk of injury, as well as an increased risk of damaging your piano. Ultimately, it’s always worth it to call in a professional piano mover.
The average cost to move a piano is around $400, but your total will depend on the type of piano and your living situation—tight corners and flights of stairs will complicate the move. Moving an upright piano will be more affordable—around $250—and a full grand piano will cost closer to $550. Long-distance moves will bump all of these prices up and sometimes double them if the move is across state lines.
