"Ken, the owner, came out and did the estimate personally. We decided we needed to get 3 estimates and asked the others to quote the same equipment Ken did. We had an old Carrier system which had given us no end of trouble installed by one of the big HVAC companies in town which I will never use again. We opted for a top of the line Trane system this time. Ken worked with us to adjust his bids to quote the same equipment that the others were quoting. We had Ken come out to do some duct sealing and cold air return enlargement a few years back, so we went to him first. Ken was easy to work with, on time and provided the lowest bid, so we went ahead. The crew showed up on time and installed the system in one day despite allowing for two. They did a thorough job, cleaned up after themselves and were very courteous and considerate. When we had the independent duct seal test done, the tester indicated that he was always happy to inspect their work, since it was consistently well done. When the county inspector came to sign off the permit, he seemed to feel the same way. This is a family company who consistently do good honest work and are easy to work with. We signed up for Golden Aire's maintenance program and they extended the labor warranty to 10 years. One of the other bids we got was from a larger company that sends us postcards pretty regularly even though we have not used them in the past. Their bids were 25-35% higher for the same equipment and they were a real pain to deal with, just getting the bids."

We called for plumbing help Friday AM and they sent someone out Monday. The plumber was here first thing, diagnosed the problem and wrote up a proposal. It was steep, but he was ready to solve all our plumbing problems, one stop and no more fuss - so I approved it.
In less than 90 minutes he had cleared the urinal drain and installed a new kitchen faucet. The faucet is exceptionally ugly, the worst Home Depot model possible. My mistake for accepting his choose A,B or C option. Although he indicated he would have to remove the urinal from the wall to access the drain line, I think he had a change of mind - the drain was rodded through the outlet after all, no removal - about 10 minutes work.
The bill was $1260. The (ugly) faucet was a $100 Home Depot special, call it $260 with steep contractor markup. That means his 90 minutes of labor was around $1,000 or $666 per hour. I wouldn't pay a divorce attorney that kind of money, even if I was Gwyneth Paltrow!
No complaints about the work or the professionalism - but man that price.

"Air conditioning in one zone stopped working over very hot weekend.  Called three companies to get a quote on possibly replacing both zones before I spent money on repairing a 17+ year old unit.
Diamond was the first company with availability.  Before they came over to give a quote, Bob called to ask me a few questions about the nature of the problem.  He speculated over the phone of what the problem might be and what the cost of fixing it would be.
He arrived for the appointment at the appointed time and proceeded immediately to fix the unit while talking to me about an estimate to replace both zones (2 systems).  He spent extra time hunting down an electrical connection issue in the unit and when done, checked out the flow readings of the system.
$258 dollars fixed the problem.  Since I had scheduled him for a quote, he offered to remove the new part that he had just installed or I could leave it in and if I decided to buy a new system, they would credit the repair of this unit back against it.  I elected to have him leave the fix in place.
Bob quoted me an exceptionally good price per unit for a quality Lennox system.  In fact a competitor who came the following day said that he wanted to see a copy of a written quote because Diamond's price was too good.
Although I've decided for the time being to not replace both systems, I would select Diamond Heating and Air in a second!

I decided to replace the inducer motor at the same time since it was only a matter of time until it failed. I called Zak - the general manager and he agreed to give me a long-term customer discount. Steve Brown, my service technician notified me that morning when he would arrive and was right on time. He was easy to work with, showed me the wear to the units and explained what he was doing throughout the installation. After removing the heat exchanger, Steve pointed out the evaporator coils needed to be cleaned and gave me a discount for that work too. No one likes an expensive HVAC repair bill, however Ray O. "The fireplace installed was very nice and for the most part I was happy with the gas fireplace itself.  The down side of the installation was that finding a source for the electricity required for the firebox left me with two large holes drilled in my bedroom wall in order to reach the fire box to provide the electricity needed for its operation.  I ended up with two holes because the first attempt did not successfully reach the fireplace so another hole was drilled about 1 foot from that.  These holes are about 1" - 2" in size.  The need to drill was discussed prior to the installation and I understood the need to find an electrical source and I agreed with using my bedroom because the original proposed site was right next to the fireplace and would have looked unsightly when completed.  I must admit that I had no idea how unsightly these holes were going to look prior to giving the go ahead.  In retrospect I think they need to do a much better job on the electrical portion of the installation and include using both an electrician to properly wire the box for its electrical needs and a drywall person to repair any sheetrock damage done to complete the installation.  Their proposed use of a cable cover over these large holes doesn't properly address the problem and degrades their workmanship"
