"I've used Metropolitan before and will continue to use them for all of my door and window replacement projects! The entire team is knowledgeable, professional, and communicative. I chose Anlin windows and ProVia entry doors and I couldn't be happier with how great my home looks."

"This is our second window installation with Renewal By Anderson. We had an outstanding experience our first time around, and today our much anticipated installation of two very large stationary windows took place. Bebe and Ryan were our installers for this job. They were awesome!! They were friendly, they were prompt, and they even helped me figure out how to contact Anderson about a window screen that has been damaged by my landscapers. I very much appreciated their professionalism and their extra attention to detail. I highly recommend Renewal by Anderson for replacement windows. Thanks Bebe and Ryan, you guys are the best!!!"

"Requested a quote, they arrived on time and had sample windows to actually look at. Went with them, they took less than half a day, arrived on time, and the windows look great. For one of the windows, a little bit of stucco was damaged during installation and they notified us the damaged happened, came back, and repaired it the next week. The windows look great and had the best specs out of the 4 other window installers I got quotes from."

"We utilized C&H for several handyman projects in a recently purchased condo, as well as a full cleaning in advance of move in. The handyman project including replacing the door moulding, and putting new thresholds and weather stripping on the doors. Well done! The cleaning was done well, with particularly work well done in the kitchen area, to include dishwasher, oven, stove top, and all cupboards and sink. The owner of the company, Al, is a highly customer centric individual, whom only wants the customer to be well served and completely satisfied in the project results. He met me in advance of the projects and totally understood the work to be done. He was early for the four times we met, his crew was on time, he gets his hands dirty, he is a problem solver, and he is there for the end of the job for final inspection. He is a man of high integrity. I recommend C&H for any handyman or cleaning needs you may have. Start with Al!"

"Derek recently installed two doors for me, an entry door from the garage to the house, as well as a front door. He was recommended to me by Dixieline Lumber and Home Centers in Escondido, where I special ordered my fire-rated garage door. The front door install was pretty standard; however, the garage door was very problematic as I found out that the door measurements (confirmed by my home remodel contractor) were slightly off and the incorrect size door was ordered. The garage entry door was special ordered and could not be returned, as well as was pricey. Derek called Dixeline to discuss solutions. He provided me with two options, order a new door which would take approximately 6-8 weeks to be delivered and consider my special order door a loss. Option 1 was the the easier install option. Option 2 was that he could reframe the entry way and install the door that I ordered. Option 2 was more labor intensive and slightly more expensive; however, thatâ s the option I chose so I could use the door that I ordered which matched the cabinets in my house. Derek obtained all the materials needed to reframe my door, plus hinges, seals, etc., and bore out the holes of my slab door for the handles and locks. While reframing, he also noticed old termite damage which he also fixed by replacing some wood. Installing the garage door was literally an all-day project for him and despite all the issues, Derek made it work and the door looks fantastic. Derek also cut and installed new door trim for both doors, as well as installed Google Yale locks. He tested both locks which worked fine at the time; however, after he left, I noticed an issue with the one lock not consistently locking properly. I spoke to him and he promptly returned the next morning to adjust the lock. I highly recommend Derek was he professional, direct, had great communication and was a problem solver. My home remodel contractor could have installed my doors, but Iâ ve heard from so many people that installing doors is not easy and is an art. Iâ m so glad that I went with Derek who does this every day as his specialty."

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

Whether you should repair or replace a screen door depends on the type and extent of the damage. It is easy and economical to repair a small tear in the mesh using a widely available DIY patch kit. However, if there are large tears, multiple damaged spots, or if the screen is made of a specialized material, replacing the entire screen mesh might be a better long-term investment for a tidier appearance. You should also consider the condition of the frame; if the frame itself is damaged, it's likely time to replace the entire door. Other factors to weigh include whether you want a new style or need a more durable door.

A screened-in porch requires maintenance to keep the screens clean and in good shape, and you may have to do some screen repair or replacement from time to time. A screen porch isn’t an all-season porch, so the weather can get in, including wind and rain.

The most affordable way to screen in a porch is to add a base track system to an existing wooden frame. The whole process should cost around $2,000 for supplies, depending on the size of your porch. It’s much pricier to build a screened-in porch or sunroom from scratch—and you’ll probably need to hire a contractor for a project like that.

The steps to replace a retractable screen can vary, but these are the general steps: First, remove the screen cover to expose the screen mechanism and remove the clip that holds the screen in place. Next, depress the end of the screen mechanism so it releases from the door frame. Take your new screen and fit one end into the frame. You may need to rotate the mechanism to engage the spring before inserting the other end into the frame. Finally, pull the screen down the length of the door’s opening and lock it in place with the clip.

No, but removing window screens will achieve a deeper clean. If you aren’t sure how to remove your screens, you can still clean them while in your window. You can follow the same cleaning steps, but you may not be able to get into corners or struggle to clean the entire screen if the window is up high.
