We had an entry door badly aged and not sealing against the rain. Derek advised us on materials needed and scheduled us at the first available window for installation. He demo'd the old door frame, without damaging the stucco, and installed the new door, good as new. I've been in the trades for 40 years. It's hard to find a craftsman who is professional, punctual and takes pride in his work. This is the person you want to have working on your project.

Derek recently installed two doors for me, an entry door from the garage to the house, as well as a front door. He was recommended to me by Dixieline Lumber and Home Centers in Escondido, where I special ordered my fire-rated garage door. The front door install was pretty standard; however, the garage door was very problematic as I found out that the door measurements (confirmed by my home remodel contractor) were slightly off and the incorrect size door was ordered. The garage entry door was special ordered and could not be returned, as well as was pricey. Derek called Dixeline to discuss solutions. He provided me with two options, order a new door which would take approximately 6-8 weeks to be delivered and consider my special order door a loss. Option 1 was the the easier install option. Option 2 was that he could reframe the entry way and install the door that I ordered. Option 2 was more labor intensive and slightly more expensive; however, thatâ s the option I chose so I could use the door that I ordered which matched the cabinets in my house. Derek obtained all the materials needed to reframe my door, plus hinges, seals, etc., and bore out the holes of my slab door for the handles and locks. While reframing, he also noticed old termite damage which he also fixed by replacing some wood. Installing the garage door was literally an all-day project for him and despite all the issues, Derek made it work and the door looks fantastic. Derek also cut and installed new door trim for both doors, as well as installed Google Yale locks. He tested both locks which worked fine at the time; however, after he left, I noticed an issue with the one lock not consistently locking properly. I spoke to him and he promptly returned the next morning to adjust the lock. I highly recommend Derek was he professional, direct, had great communication and was a problem solver. My home remodel contractor could have installed my doors, but Iâ ve heard from so many people that installing doors is not easy and is an art. Iâ m so glad that I went with Derek who does this every day as his specialty.

Quick response to my request. Able to provide a view of the project over the phone through visual photo inspections. Accommodated an early Monday appointment to complete the project. Provided good suggestions for future proofing. Overall found his price for the project reasonable.

did a terrific job on making exterior doors more waterproof and explained how water enters with high winds.even readjusted shutter panel on one door so door handle wouldn't catch. And $20 BELOW estimate. Cleaned up afterwards. will keep him in my go-to file for doors and finish carpentry!

Derek showed up when he said would and replaced the track wheels on our eight feet tall sliding glass door along with adding a handle to the outside of the door. The door has never worked so well! Derek is congenial and did the work very well.

Derek was an excellent choice for installing our new Milgard vinyl doors. He was extremely punctual doing exactly what he contracted to do and at a reasonable price. Milgard was just here on a follow-up visit and commented on the perfection that Derek performed in the installation of the door sets. I highly recommend Derek.
